Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly (APAQ) is a peer-reviewed international multidisciplinary journal aimed at stimulating and disseminating scholarly inquiries related to physical activity that are adapted to enhance and improve the performance and participation of individuals with disabilities. Physical activity encompasses fine, gross, functional, and expressive movements, including areas such as physical education, recreation, exercise, sports, and dance. The focus of adaptation may involve the activities or tasks to be performed, the environment and facilities, equipment, teaching methods, and/or the rules governing performance settings. The populations considered include individuals with lifelong physical, intellectual, sensory, mental, or other disabilities. The academic disciplines that contribute to this goal may include, but are not limited to, physical education, teacher preparation, human development, motor behavior and learning, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and sport psychology. Scientific inquiries may stem from quantitative or qualitative research, or may utilize mixed-method designs.
