The Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry publishes fundamental research results on the chemical phenomena arising from the interactions between light and various molecules or substances. All systems that can be described at the molecular or supramolecular level are suitable for this journal. This includes all molecular chemical species, as well as biomolecules, supramolecules, polymers, and other macromolecular systems, along with solid-state photochemistry. Additionally, the journal publishes research on semiconductors and other photoactive organic and inorganic materials, as well as photocatalysis (organic, inorganic, supramolecular, and superconducting). The scope includes condensed and gas-phase photochemistry, as well as synchrotron radiation chemistry. It covers a wide range of photochemical processes and techniques, such as light-induced energy, electron and proton transfer; nonlinear photochemical behavior; mechanistic studies of photochemical reactions and identification of photochemical reaction products; quantum yield determinations and rate constant measurements for primary and secondary photochemical processes; steady-state and time-resolved emission, ultrafast spectroscopy methods, single-molecule spectroscopy, time-resolved X-ray diffraction, luminescence microscopy, and scattering spectroscopy applied to photochemistry. Papers on emerging and applied fields such as luminescent sensors, electroluminescence, solar energy conversion, atmospheric photochemistry, environmental remediation, and related photocatalytic chemistry are also welcome.
