Organic Geochemistry is the only dedicated journal for publishing peer-reviewed research that involves the role of organic compounds in all geochemical stages. The editors welcome submissions covering a wide range of Earth science disciplines, which are broadly based on organic chemistry (including molecular and isotopic geochemistry) and encompass geology, biogeochemistry, environmental geochemistry, chemical oceanography, and hydrology. The journal's scope includes research related to petroleum (including natural gas), coal, organic matter in water environments, recent sediments, organic-rich rocks and soils, and the role of organic matter in elemental geochemical cycles. Studies in sedimentology, paleontology, and organic petrology will also be considered for publication, provided they have a geochemical focus. The papers cover all research activities in organic geochemistry, including comprehensive review articles, technical communications, discussion/reply letters, and brief technical notes. Peer review is organized by three editors and one associate editor, conducted by renowned scientists from academia, government, and industry. The journal also publishes book reviews, announcements of important conferences, and other matters of direct interest to the organic geochemistry community.
