Work psychosocial risk factors can be grouped into six dimensions: work intensity and time of work; emotional demands; lack of autonomy; poor social relationships; ethical conflicts and job and work insecurity. Although psychosocial risks are a major challenge to the safety and health at work, it is relevant to question their weight, in this context. Thus, we present a literature systematic review of such risks, the identification of the instruments used in their assessment and the outcomes they provide. Through this analysis, we found different approaches to address psychosocial risks, their assessment and theorization. We found the need for qualitative research that complement the repeated use of quantitative tools and enable greater wealth of data and a better approach to the reality of workers and avoid the social desirability effect. We also noted the need to find solutions for assessment and intervention, both individually and collectively. As a major implication, this research highlights the importance to study the factors underlying the psychosocial risks whose presence can be detected in a timely manner, as well as the creation of tools for intervention and transformation of working conditions.
