The Child and Youth Care Forum is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal that welcomes submissions of original empirical research papers, theoretical reviews, and invited commentaries related to children, youth, and families. Contributions to the journal come from researchers, practitioners, and clinicians in relevant fields such as child psychology, early childhood education, medical anthropology, pediatrics, pediatric psychology, psychiatry, public policy, school psychology, social work, and sociology, as well as from government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations seeking to advance current knowledge and practice. The journal publishes scientifically rigorous empirical papers and theoretical reviews that impact the mental health, psychosocial development, assessment, intervention, and broadly defined services for children and youth. For instance, papers may address issues related to typical and/or atypical development in children and youth through effective assessment and intervention practices in youth care. Additionally, papers may discuss strategies to help youth overcome challenges (e.g., mental health issues) or adversity (e.g., traumatic stress, community violence) and achieve their potential (e.g., positive psychology goals). We also encourage submissions of evaluative papers that advance knowledge and methodological papers that impact research and care for children and youth.
