As highlighted by both WHO's Global Leprosy Strategy 2021–2030 and ILEP's 2021–2025 strategy, organisations representing persons affected by leprosy play a significant role in reducing the disease burden. This report summarises key findings from a 2024 webinar hosted by ILEP member organisations, which aimed to define ILEP's role in empowering these organisations. It includes an overview of the concepts and potential benefits of empowerment, case studies from established organisations, an analysis of the main opportunities and obstacles, and a discussion on ILEP's role in supporting sustainability.
