The Journal of Informetrics (JOI) publishes high-quality research on quantitative aspects of information science. The journal primarily focuses on topics such as bibliometrics, scientometrics, webometrics, patent metrics, altmetrics, and research evaluation. We particularly encourage the use of methods from other quantitative fields to study informetric issues, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, econometrics, and network science. JOI publishes both theoretical and empirical work. Generally, case studies, such as bibliometric analyses focused on specific research areas or countries, are not considered suitable for publication in JOI unless they contain innovative methodological elements.
