Acta Gastro-Enterologica Belgica primarily publishes peer-reviewed original research, reviews, letters to the editor, book reviews, and guidelines in the fields of clinical gastroenterology and hepatology, including topics such as digestive oncology, digestive pathology, and nutrition. The journal does not consider pure animal or in vitro studies for publication. However, translational research papers that have a clear relationship to clinical gastroenterology and hepatology (such as screening, disease mechanisms, and/or new therapies) may be considered if they include animal or in vitro components. Case reports and clinical images that provide significant contributions to the description, pathogenesis, or treatment of specific gastrointestinal or liver issues will also be accepted. The language of the journal is English, and submissions from any country are welcome. Manuscripts submitted to this journal must not have been published previously (in English or any other language) and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Unsolicited manuscripts will undergo peer review before a decision is made regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision. Manuscripts that do not meet submission standards will be returned to the authors. Papers that fall outside the scope of the journal will generally be returned to the authors by the editorial board within two weeks. The journal reserves the right to make language edits to accepted papers to ensure clarity and correctness and to make formal changes to ensure compliance with the style of Acta Gastro-Enterologica Belgica, with authors having the opportunity to review such changes.
