The Bryologist is an international journal dedicated to various aspects of bryology and lichenology. We welcome comments, research papers, and brief communications from all members of the American Bryological and Lichenological Society (ABLS). The journal also publishes lists of current literature, book reviews, and news items related to members and activities. All past issues are maintained electronically. The first issue of The Bryologist was published in 1898, coinciding with the establishment of the society. Author guidelines can be found on the journal's website and the manuscript submission site, both listed on ABLS.ORG. All articles submitted to the journal undergo at least two rounds of peer review, with the review process and identities of reviewers kept confidential. Reviewers are required to acknowledge any potential conflicts of interest and to conduct a rigorous and objective assessment of the manuscript's suitability and academic value.

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 1 author

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors
