Abstract: La critique universitaire et journalistique décrit régulièrement L’Événement comme un livre sans précédent. Véritable tournant dans la littérature d’avortement, le livre est pourtant loin d’être un hapax . En effet, il est précédé par une littérature riche mais oubliée en raison du contexte politico-légal préalable à la légalisation de l’avortement. En nous appuyant sur ce contexte, sur les archives de Gallimard et sur un entretien avec Annie Ernaux, nous consacrerons par conséquent cet article à l’analyse des facteurs qui ont fait de la publication de L’Événement un moment charnière associé, dans l’imaginaire collectif contemporain, à la sortie du silence sur l’avortement.

Abstract: Cet article s’intéresse à la façon dont les romans contemporains fran-cophones pour adolescent.es traitent la question de l’IVG. Le corpus, composé de neuf romans, tous écrits par des autrices, publiés entre 2006 et 2022, paraît d’abord uniformément favorable à l’IVG. Cependant une lecture attentive révèle la reprise de tropes conservateurs, appartenant à la rhétorique anti-IVG. L’article examine à la fois ce qui fait l’uniformité du corpus, au niveau énonciatif et idéologique, et ce qui fait son hétérogénéité, par exemple dans le degré d’agentivité accordée au personnage principal.

Abstract: In 2015, Colombe Schneck published Dix-sept ans , a novel recounting the experience of her own abortion, performed in a post-legalization context. The abortion is initially presented in a manner that suggests its occurrence is inconsequential, as though it were a commonplace medical procedure having left no trace. However, the narrative is imbued with a pervasive silence and a discourse of negation and resistance that says much about the lived experience. This article analyzes the significance of these discursive features and explores the complex and often paradoxical emotions felt by women who have had an abortion.

Abstract: This article suggests that abortion in a certain genealogy of Caribbean thought in French takes place with an overlapping consciousness of both the womb and the hold— as images and as historical, embodied, and psychic realities, in slavery and “post-slavery” Africana feminist thought; abortion depends upon what Myriam Chancy refers to as “inter-subjective transmission” of what Biko Mandela Gray and Ryan J. Johnson name as “Phenomenology of Black Spirit.” The article’s analysis focuses on Fabienne Kanor’s La poétique de la cale: Variations sur le bateau négrier (2022), Évelyne Trouillot’s Rosalie l’infâme (2003), and Kettly Mars’s Fado (2008).
