Differentiation of air temperature within urban green areas is an issue relatively rarely discussed in the literature. The aim of this study was to partially fill this research gap by taking our own measurements of the local climate inside the&nbsp;Polish Aviators’ Park (Park Lotników Polskich) in Cracow. Measurement data regarding air temperature was collected at five points located inside the park and one in the park’s immediate vicinity. The sample period comprised of 18 days with high radiation and insolation and 12 days with a significant degree of cloud cover and weak wind, from May to September 2020. The results show that the interior of the park, where denser tree cover is present, differs in terms of microclimate from the exterior of&nbsp;the&nbsp;park, where low vegetation prevails. On sunny days, the air temperature differences were estimated to be on average 1 °C between the reference site (outside the park) and high vegetation and about 0.5 °C between the reference site and low vegetation. During the day, a greater thermal difference was noted between the park and its surroundings, while at night the&nbsp;contrasts became more pronounced within the park itself due to the intense cooling of the exposed grassy areas.

The article presents the characteristics of rock material used as a building material in medieval stone churches. Macroscopic petrographic analysis showed that the rock blocks used for the construction of medieval churches in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Kołbaskowo commune were generally made of material available on site. They were rocks originating from Fennoscandia but extracted from sediments deposited by ice sheets that had advanced in from the north. The obtained results were compared against macroscopic analyses of the petrographic composition of Scandinavian erratic boulders in the area and accumulations of raw material in megalithic objects. The results of petrographic observations made it possible to distinguish the&nbsp;basic types of rock materials used in the construction of the churches. The most commonly used materials were: granitoids, gneisses, rhyolithoids, sandstones and quartzites. All the churches built in the 13th century within what is today Kołbaskowo commune show a predominance of granitoids.

The chemical composition of lake and mire sediments can be used as proxies of past changes in different accumulation environments. Here, I present these proxies that can be used to reconstruct the palaeoenvironment of the past 16,000 years for many mineral-biogenic series from central Poland and establish regional similarities and differences. Past geochemical studies of biogenic sediments from this region were usually carried out in the context of the genesis of: individual accumulation reservoirs, the development of the relief of river valleys and watersheds; they were also used in combination with other methods of palaeoecological research also reconstruct climatic changes in individual phases of the Late Glacial and Holocene. However, due to the complexity of matter circulation in the lithological and hypsometrical diverse transitional zone between the belts of&nbsp;the Polish Uplands and the Polish Lowlands, an analysis was made to determine the relationship between the conditions of&nbsp;biogenic sedimentation at individual sites using selected statistical analyses. In addition to its description of the geochemical variability of biogenic sediments, this analysis was supplemented by its reference to the spatial differentiation in the relationships between geochemical landscapes and the landforms of various orders. In turn, the method of lithogeochemical facies used for several profiles along the transect from the west to the east of the region made it possible to determine: the origin of water supplying the studied biogenic accumulation reservoirs, the range of individual zones of their supply and the conditions of&nbsp;inflow of allochthonous mineral matter.

In 2023, Acta Geographica Lodziensia will celebrate its 75th anniversary. The anniversary has been taken as an op-portunity to present a historical account of how the journal’s profile has changed over the years. Particular attention was paid to the last decade, when there were changes in the pattern of editorial work. They resulted in the need to adapt the publishing sequence to the development of online communication channels, indexation requirements and the journal’s position as meas-ured by its presence in reference databases, including the SCOPUS database. Recent years have seen a shift from the dominance of monographic volumes to collective ones, with topics that go beyond the regional framework.

The paper describes the results of physicochemical analysis and pollen analysis of the Łykawe Doły site located in a drainless depression with karst genesis. The site is located directly adjacent to the western border of the Małopolska Upland, where under a thin layer of Quaternary sediments there are carbonate rocks undergoing karstification. The aim of the work was to reconstruct changes in the plant cover in the immediate vicinity of the depression and the changes taking place in the depression itself. The dating and palynological analysis showed that the depression of covered karst began to fill with biogenic sediments in the Subboreal period, and its development also took place in the Sub-Atlantic period. Throughout the entire time that the depression was filling with sediments, a peatbog existed within it.

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of Palaeolithic sites as geoheritage objects. It also examines in detail the state of their preservation and the main problems related to the process of organising the protection of Palaeolithic heritage monuments in Ukraine (using the example of Palaeolithic sites in the Podillya region). The study focuses on the distinctive features of these geoheritage objects, emphasising their natural significance and unique historical features. Based on a detailed analysis of natural conditions, as well as legal aspects, this article presents ideas and best practices &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;that can significantly change the Ukrainian approach to the preservation and management of Palaeolithic heritage. It highlights the importance of Palaeolithic sites as natural and cultural monuments that deserve our utmost care and attention.
