Here, we describe a new smaridid species, Smaris hajiqanbari sp. n., based on the larva. This is the first description of a Smaris species from Brazil and the fourth larval Smaris ever described. An identification key to larval Smaris is also provided.

A new melicharid mite of the genus Orolaelaps De Leon, 1963, O. guanahacabibensis sp.n., is described based on female specimens collected from coastal soil litter in Cuba. The genus Orolaelaps is reported for the first time from Cuba. A dichotomous key for the identification of females of the world species classified in the genus Orolaelaps is provided.

A new species of Orolaelaps De Leon (Acari: Mesostigmata: Melicharidae) from Cuba

Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) kuznetsovi (Demnark and Welbourn) is redescribed based on the holotype female and newly collected materials from Tajikistan. After a detailed examination of the holotype female, we have concluded that several important morphological characters were incorrectly described in the original description. In this article, we redescribe and discuss these characters. Additionally, the holotype female of T. (A.) kuznetsovi was photographed and measured according to modern standards of phytoseiid taxonomy.

Phoretic deutonymphs of Winterschmidtia tawantinsuyuca sp. n. (Acari: Winterschmidtiidae) are described from Peru. This is the fourth species of the genus recorded in the Neotropical realm. Similar to the three other Peruvian species, the new species is phoretic on bark beetles, but this is the first finding of Winterschmidtia on the beetles of the genus Xyleborus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae). The new species differs from all others in the ornamentation on of its prodorsal shield.

A NEW SPECIES OF WINTERSCHMIDTIA OUDEMANS (ACARI: ASTIGMATA: WINTERSCHMIDTIIDAE) FROM PERU

This paper provides a brief review of investigations of the spider mite fauna of Kyrgyzstan. 5 species—Eotetranychus libocedri, Eo. tiliarum, Eo. thujae, Oligonychus karamatus and O. lagodechii—were recorded from Kyrgyzstan for the first time. In addition, the presence of O. piceae in the studied region has been confirmed. Thus, the tetranychids fauna of Kyrgyzstan consists of 58 species.

NEW DATA ON SPIDER MITES (PROSTIGMATA: TETRANYCHIDAE) FROM KYRGYZSTAN

A new predatory mite species of the genus Gamasellodes Athias-Henriot, 1961 (Mesostigmata: Ascidae), G. brevisetus sp. n., is described and illustrated based on morphological characters of adults collected from meadow soils of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Western Siberia. The spermatodactyl of the male chelicera is unique among the representatives of this genus, being a thin-walled goffered tube possessing a broad opening. Female spermathecal apparatus is of a laelapid-type, with two unpaired successive chambers. In addition, an identification key to all known Russian species of the genus is presented, including G. rectiventris Lindquist, 1971, which was recorded from Russia for the first time.

First data on the chigger mites of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are obtained based on the material collected from alcohol-fixed specimens of the Arabian spiny mouse, Acomys dimidiatus (Cretzschmar), stored in a museum collection. Four species of chiggers are recorded, three of which were previously known from the nearby provinces of Iran.
