Advances in Water Resources provides a forum for the presentation of fundamental scientific advances in the understanding of water resource systems. The scope of the journal includes any combination of theoretical, computational, and experimental methods aimed at enhancing the fundamental understanding of surface or groundwater resource systems and their interactions with the atmosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, and human society. Manuscripts that involve case studies, engineering design, applied hydraulics, or research on water quality and treatment, which do not aim to derive broader conclusions or do not promote a fundamental understanding of hydrological processes, are not suitable for submission. Examples of appropriate subject areas include: • Surface and groundwater hydrology • Hydrometeorology • Environmental fluid dynamics • Eco-hydrology and eco-fluid dynamics • Multiphase transport phenomena in porous media • Fluid flow and mass transport and reaction processes.

Journal Citation Format
Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.
Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.
A journal article with 1 author
A journal article with 2 authors
A journal article with 3 authors
A journal article with 5 or more authors
