Acta Zoologica Bulgarica publishes original research articles, reviews, and short communications in the fields of systematics and phylogenetics, zoogeography, zoology, terrestrial ecology, behavior, aquatic ecology, parasitology, paleozoology, morphology, developmental biology, conservation biology, applied zoology, and other branches of zoology. The journal focuses on the diversity, ecology, and evolution of animals, with a global geographical scope, but prioritizes fauna from Bulgaria and the Balkans, as well as related regions (e.g., the Black Sea, the Danube Basin, Southeast Europe). Descriptions of new zoological methods, brief reviews or notes on zoological books, and information about scientific events (past or upcoming) are also accepted.
