ACM SIGPLAN Notices is the journal of the ACM Special Interest Group on Programming Languages, focusing on concepts and tools related to programming languages, including design, implementation, practice, and theory. Its members include developers, educators, implementers, researchers, theorists, and users of programming languages. SIGPLAN sponsors several important annual conferences, including the Symposium on Principles of Programming Languages (POPL), the Symposium on Principles and Practice of Parallel Programming (PPOPP), the Conference on Programming Language Design and Implementation (PLDI), the International Conference on Functional Programming (ICFP), the International Conference on Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages, and Applications (OOPSLA), and more than a dozen smaller events in collaboration with other SIGs. The monthly ACM SIGPLAN Notices publishes records of selected sponsored events and annual reports on SIGPLAN activities. Members benefit from discounted conference registrations and free access to ACM SIGPLAN publications in the ACM Digital Library. SIGPLAN recognizes significant research and service contributions through various awards, supports existing members through its professional activities committee, and encourages future programming language enthusiasts through frequent Programming Language Mentoring Workshops (PLMW).

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 1 author

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors

Here are examples of references for authored and edited books.
