AlphaFold3 can predict protein–ligand complex structures. In this study, we examined the accuracy of prediction of heme–protein interactions by AlphaFold3. AlphaFold3 succeeded in predicting heme–protein interactions for most heme proteins except for those without homologous proteins in the Protein Data Bank. Our comparison of predictions by AlphaFold3 and AlphaFold2 suggests that heme–protein structures can be predicted from amino acid sequences of proteins alone using AlphaFold2.

Abstract There are only limited methods available to synthesize metastable olivine NaMnPO4, and these methods all involve a time-consuming process. Herein, we report a rapid synthesis of olivine NaMnPO4, and the results show that the formation of olivine NaMnPO4 highly depends on the Na/Mn/P ratio and the pH of the reaction system, and pure olivine NaMnPO4 can be hydrothermally synthesized for only 1 h under appropriate conditions. This communication provides an efficient process for synthesis of olivine NaMnPO4.

Abstract Self-aggregation of Zn 3-hydroxymethyl chlorophyll (Chl) derivatives esterified with different linear alcohols at the 17-propionate residue was investigated in choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs). The derivatives esterified with longer alcohols were self-assembled like bacteriochlorophylls in chlorosomes of green photosynthetic bacteria. The physicochemical properties of DESs affected the self-aggregation behaviors of Zn 3-hydroxymethyl Chl derivatives.

Abstract A luminescent Ir(III) complex functionalized with a planar triarylborane moiety was prepared. This complex exhibits unique photophysical properties derived from the electron-withdrawing effect of the triarylborane moiety. A significant change in electron density occurs upon binding of F⁻ to the electron-deficient boron center, resulting in decreased absorption and enhanced emission.

Abstract This study examines the influence of bromodomain and extraterminal (BET) inhibitors with different selectivity for bromodomains on human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). Our findings demonstrate that BET inhibitors with higher selectivity for the second bromodomain (BD2) exhibit lower cytotoxicity hMSCs, suggesting that the inhibition of osteogenic differentiation in hMSCs is primarily due to the suppression of the first bromodomain of bromodomain-containing protein 4, rather than the inhibition of its BD2.

Abstract In the crystalline state of the title biradical each nitroxide group is located close to each other, to form a covalently bonded diamagnetic polymer having a head-to-tail (N-O)2 motif. The solid irreversibly turned paramagnetic above 365 K. ESR spectra on a PVC solid solution displayed a zero-field splitting pattern together with a half-field signal at room temperature. DFT calculations support the interpretation of the magnetic ground states and a four-center two-electron bonding character. Coordination ability was also explored.

Abstract A stannylpotassium reagent, generated in situ from a readily available silylstannane and t-BuOK, is demonstrated to react smoothly with an alkyl bromide to give an alkylstannane in high yield. The superior nucleophilicity of the stannylpotassium reagent is illustrated in the efficient stannylative substitution of less reactive alkyl chlorides. Mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction proceeds through an ionic, SN2-type pathway.

Abstract We have successfully achieved efficient recognition of mismatched sites in double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) through the formation of an invasion complex by using partially non-complementary peptide nucleic acids (PNAs). Owing to mismatches between two PNAs used for invasion, the undesired PNA/PNA duplex, which inhibits invasion complex formation, was destabilized. This approach overcame an inherent challenge in PNA invasion, in particular, undesired PNA/PNA duplex formation resulting from PNA complementarity, thereby enhancing overall invasion efficiency.
