The Bulletin of the Archive of the University of Coimbra is published twice a year and it is dedicated to the issue of papers and research in the areas of Archivology and History, giving preference to the existing funds at the Archive of the University of Coimbra. Aims to stimulate the multidisciplinary discussion within the Information Science and History and to publicize the activity in these areas developed in Portugal and in particular at the referred Archive.  The Bulletin had its first issue in 1973, and from the present (Vol. XXV, 2012), is replaced by online edition only, and is open to collaboration with national and foreign researchers.

It is difficult to fix coordinates to define architectural archives, related as they are to a discipline that has many declensions and often overlaps with others. Characterized by a multiplicity of types of documentation, from the point of view of production and organization they vary greatly in the range defined by the two poles of personal and corporate archives. Subjected to a strong evolutionary process, marked by the increasingly exclusive presence of digital technology, they constitute a field of continuous learning for archivists and researchers, with the aim of fully exploiting their information potential. Historical research, however, is only one of the fields in which architectural archives can play a primary role. Focusing on the human environment, built and natural, they are vital in the construction and development of collective memory, as much as in the management and protection of the works that make up the common heritage of citizens.

Neste trabalho tentámos fazer uma análise e história dos conceitos de preservação, restauração e conservação. Abordámos de forma muito resumida as abordagens paradigmáticas à volta dos termos, começando com a sua etimologia, mas situadas no debate desde o século XIX até aos dias de hoje. O nosso objetivo geral é de demonstrar o desenvolvimento da discussão acerca do conceito ao longo do tempo. Desenvolvemos uma revisão de literatura com base em pesquisa nas bases de dados científicas e artigos académicos. A título conclusivo observamos que existem problemas de tradução e adaptação dos conceitos analisados em diferentes contextos linguísticos.

O presente trabalho dá a conhecer a descrição arquivística do acervo documental do Pontifício e Real Colégio de São Pedro. Esta instituição que foi integrada na Universidade de Coimbra, a partir de 1572, passando a estar instalada junto dos Paços Reais, depois de sediada, desde a sua fundação, em 1545, na Rua da Sofia, deixou marcas em quem a frequentou e também na própria Universidade, onde vieram a lecionar alguns dos seus colegiais e outros foram seus Reitores. Que relações se estabeleceram com a Universidade, sabendo-se que o seu Reitor fazia visitações regulares ao Colégio? Quem eram os colegiais, porcionistas e familiares que o frequentaram? E que igrejas pertenceram ao seu padroado? Ao fazer o tratamento arquivístico do seu cartório, foram identificadas tipologias documentais que encerram informações diversas e vastas, as quais permitem responder a todas estas questões e a muitas outras, sobre a vida interna do Colégio, sua forma de administração e património que possuía, até que foi extinto em 1834.

In 1834, by Decree of 30 May and as part of the general ecclesiastical reform undertaken by Joaquim António de Aguiar, Minister and Secretary of State, and carried out by the Commission for the General Reform of the Clergy (1833-1837), all convents, monasteries, colleges, hospices and religious houses of all religious orders were extinguished, with the female houses remaining subject to their respective bishops until the death of the last nun, the date of their definitive closure. The process of extinction of religious houses involved the drawing up of hundreds of inventories currently in the Torre do Tombo National Archive. This wealth of information makes it possible to carry out countless archival, history, and art history studies associated with economic and sociological studies. In this study, we intend to focus on the inventories of the Santo André de Rendufe monastery and the Convent of Christ in Tomar. The fact that both institutions have a Benedictine character (in the first case, black monks and in the second, friars of the Order of Christ) but are located in different places in the kingdom will allow us to make comparisons, propose hypotheses and draw conclusions that may help us to understand better how the above-mentioned processes of extinction of religious houses and the collection of their archives and documentary collections were conducted.

A ética digital constitui-se em um função emergente nas organizações e requer a atenção de investigadores, decisores políticos, bem como profissionais da informação. Nesse sentido, o estudo aqui apresentado busca fornecer uma análise crítica das publicações sobre ética digital nos últimos 15 anos, além de pesquisa documental, com o objetivo de identificar questões relevantes e áreas onde a investigação e o desenvolvimento de práticas éticas são necessárias. O estudo procura contribuir para a construção de abordagens éticas para as tecnologias digitais, uma vez que as mudanças tecnológicas continuam a ter um impacto cada vez mais significativo em nossas vidas.

Entre 1914, ano da restauração do concelho de Sines, e 1951, data do Regulamento Geral de Edificações Urbanas em Portugal, o licenciamento de obras particulares em Sines, uma das mais vetustas competências municipais, resultou numa colecção de requerimentos que permitem introduzir o estudo da gestão urbanística de um município em particular, o de Sines, que não resultou na produção de processos de obras particulares. Começa-se por recensear os trabalhos científicos no que concerne aos conceitos de arquivos de arquitectura e processos de obras particulares através de uma revisão da literatura. Numa segunda fase, tendo por base o método de investigação documental, analisa-se o quadro regulador, em contraste com a documentação produzida e o contexto local. Identificam-se e analisam-se os instrumentos que regularam a gestão urbanística de Sines desde a restauração do concelho no período em questão. Conclui-se com a caracterização da dinâmica do licenciamento e as suas dificuldades, à luz dos seus regulamentos e do contexto local.
