Biosensors are analytical devices that integrate or closely relate biological materials, bio-derived materials, or biomimetic materials with physicochemical sensors or sensing microsystems. These sensors can be optical, electrochemical, thermometric, piezoelectric, magnetic, or micromechanical. The journal "Biosensors and Bioelectronics" is a major international journal dedicated to the research, design, development, and application of biosensors and bioelectronics. It serves as an interdisciplinary platform for professionals interested in the development of biomaterials and the design of novel diagnostic and electronic devices, including sensors, DNA chips, electronic noses, lab-on-a-chip systems, and micro-total analysis systems (μ-TAS). They have been applied to various analytical challenges, including those in medicine, biomedical research, drug discovery, environmental monitoring, food safety, processing industries, security, and defense. The journal also encompasses the design and study of molecular and supramolecular structures with molecular recognition and biomimetic characteristics for analytical devices. The focus is on the complementary intersections between molecular recognition, nanotechnology, molecular imprinting, and supramolecular chemistry to enhance the analytical performance and robustness of devices.
