The Journal of the History of the Neurosciences is a leading platform for the exchange of ideas focused on the historical roots of both basic and applied neuroscience. The journal covers historical perspectives and developments across various fields, including neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychiatry, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropsychology, and behavioral neuroscience, encompassing biographical studies, diseases, institutions, documents, and instruments. We welcome research on the history of ideas, changes in society and medicine, and connections with other disciplines such as art, philosophy, and psychology. In addition to original full-length articles, the journal also welcomes rich short communications, letters to the editor, book reviews, and contributions to its NEUROWORDS and NEUROGNOSTICS columns. All manuscripts will undergo initial evaluation by the editors, and if deemed suitable for further consideration, both full-length and short articles will be subjected to peer review by at least two anonymous reviewers (double-blind review will be employed upon request).

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors
