Objectives: In this study, we compare the visual acuity levels and physical activity participation of Chinese and Japanese children. Methods: We collected data on static visual acuity, kinetic visual acuity, axial length, intensity, frequency, duration, amount, and physical activity items of 431 children aged 6-12 years from Chinese and Japanese schools in the same city. Our analysis examined the relationships involving age, visual function indicators, ocular biometric parameters, and extracurricular physical activity. Results: We found the myopia rate higher in Chinese children than in Japanese children, increasing with age except in grade 4; kinetic visual acuity in Chinese children was lower than in Japanese children (p&lt;.01). The axial length becomes longer with age in both groups, with Chinese children having a longer axial length than Japanese children. The amount of physical activity in Chinese and Japanese children aged 6-12 years fluctuates. The frequency, duration, and physical activity items are lower in Chinese children than Japanese (p&lt;.01). Conclusions: Chinese and Japanese children's overall static visual acuity development level shows a decreasing trend, and Japanese children have better kinetic visual acuity and physical activity participation than Chinese children. Physical activity could have an impact on visual acuity.

A Comparative Study on Visual Health and Physical Activity of Chinese and Japanese Children Aged 6-12 Years

To explore a multidimensional measure of health literacy that incorporates skills necessary to manage one's health environment.We designed a questionnaire to assess variation in an expanded understanding of health literacy among publicly insured adolescents in California (N = 1208) regarding their health care experiences and insurance.Factor loading and item clustering patterns reflected in the exploratory principal components factor analysis suggest that the data are parsimoniously described by 6 domains.This multidimensional measure becomes relevant in an era of health care reform in which many will for the first time have health insurance requiring them to navigate a system that uses a managed care model.

Findings Toward a Multidimensional Measure of Adolescent Health Literacy

Aim: Earlier studies focus primarily on the prime factors as determinants explaining the life background of patients with chronic diseases. However, a gap is yet to be filled in exploring health literacy's mediating role between mental and physical health. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the direct effect of social support and health literacy and its mediating effect on two dimensions of health. Methodology: A convenient sampling technique has helped the researchers achieve a valid sample of 318 community members in villages, towns, and cities with mental and physical health recovery. Results: The results via hypotheses testing through the Smart PLS 4 version state that (1) social support significantly improves mental health recovery but does not play such a role in physical health recovery. (2) health literacy improves significantly both mental and physical health. (3) health literacy partially mediates the association between social support and physical health. (4) conversely, it reflects a full mediating effect between social support and mental health recovery. Suggestion: To promote the recovery of both mental and physical health, society members, friends, and family relatives are suggested to strengthen the phenomenon of social support. Improving the health literacy of persons who want to improve their physical and mental health may also provide substantial results.

The Influence Mechanism of Social Support and Health Literacy on Chinese Residents' Physical and Mental Health

Objectives: The aim of this review is to clarify the content of environment and its role in social participation in stroke patients through systematic analysis, and to provide a basis for further research on the correlation between the environment and social participation. Methods: Using the scoping review research method, we conducted a computer-based search using 3 databases – PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane. The search timeframe was from the establishment of the databases up to May 9, 2024. The included literature was categorized and analyzed. Results: We selected a total of 26 articles. They included one cohort study, one retrospective analysis, 2 longitudinal studies, one prospective study, 14 cross-sectional studies, and 7 qualitative research studies. The concept of environment consists of 5 aspects. We found that multiple environmental factors jointly influenced social participation. Conclusion: Environmental factors play a crucial role in influencing social participation in stroke. Various aspects of environmental factors collectively impact social participation. Improving social participation in stroke survivors requires a comprehensive consideration of physical, social, institutional, and cultural environmental factors.

The Influence Mechanism of Social Support And Health Literacy on Chinese Residents' Physical and Mental Health

Background: The health behavior reflected through patients' recovery determines the actions and attitudes of such individuals to manage their health-related concerns. However, like other factors, personality traits like Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism would greatly support recovering from any disease the patients suffer. Methods: Covering these personality domains, this research applies an empirical investigation of the role of personality traits and social support for recovering patients from different types of diseases in the Chinese region. An up-to-mark methodological context named covariance-based structural equation modeling technique was selected for the data being collected using the self-administered among the patients struggling from the recovery of the different diseases in Guangdong, China, having many hospitals and health-related units. Results: The study, however, through the CB-SEM algorithm, shows that the lowest factor loadings/weights exist for the Openness, hence deleted from the model. However, out of the remaining personality traits, the results show that both Agreeableness and Conscientiousness also improve the patients' recovery. Conclusion: Nevertheless, the study does not achieve significant evidence in favor of social support for the patients' recovery, yet policy suggestions have been provided.

Exploring the Relationship between Patients' Personality Traits, Social Encouragement and Recovery

Aim: This research study has explored the relationship between the cardiac rehab program, improvement in depression and anxiety and cardiac health behavior among the Chinese respondents. Methodology: the study applies the quantitative data analysis. A short questionnaire was developed using the several measuring factors of the cardiac rehab program, improvement in the depression and anxiety and cardiac health behavior of the Chinese residents. Sample and Estimations: A sample of 226 respondents was collected using the primary data method of questionnaire. The estimation techniques include the descriptive statistics, checking for the collinearity by variance inflation factor, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results show that satisfaction with the level of education received from training, usefulness of cardiac rehab program, Success in Finding Information, and Understanding about the information are positively related with the health responsibility, physical activity, diet habit, stress management, and smoking cessation. Moreover, usage of educational tools also creates a positive output in the form of cardiac health behavior among the selected respondents. However, change in the anxiety is negatively related to physical activity, and stress management.
