Abstract: Lateral epicondylitis (LE) is a significant source of pain and dysfunction resulting from repetitive gripping or wrist extension, radial deviation, and/or forearm supination. Although most cases are self-limiting over several years, controversy exists regarding the best treatment strategy for chronic LE. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), physical therapy (PT), shockwave therapy, and injections with corticosteroids or biologics are all conservative treatment options for LE. For refractory cases, surgical options include open, arthroscopic, and percutaneous techniques. In this review, the current evidence behind these treatment strategies is presented. The data demonstrate that NSAIDs, PT, bracing, and shockwave therapy provide limited benefit for treating LE. Biologics such as platelet-rich plasma and autologous whole-blood injections may be superior to steroid injections in the long-term management of LE. Although the initial results are promising, larger comparative studies on stem cell injections are needed. For refractory LE, open, arthroscopic, and percutaneous techniques are all highly effective, with no method seemingly superior over another. Arthroscopic and percutaneous approaches may result in faster recovery and earlier return to work. To investigate the relationship between anthropometrics and sprint and agility performance and describe the development of sprint (acceleration) and agility performance in 10- to 16-year-old male soccer players.One hundred and thirty-two participants were divided into three age groups, 10-12 years (mean 10.8±0.50), 13-14 years (mean 13.9±0.50), and 15-16 years (mean 15.5±0.24), with assessment of 20 m sprint with 10 m split time and agility performance related to body height and body mass within groups.In the 10- to 12-year-olds, there were no significant correlations between height, weight, and the performance variables, except for body mass, which was correlated to 10-20 m sprint (r=0.30). In the 13- to 14-year-olds, body height was significantly correlated with 10 m sprint (r=0.50) and 20 m sprint (r=0.52), as well as 10-20 m sprint (r=0.50) and agility performance (r=0.28). In the 15- to 16-year-old group, body height was correlated to 20 m (r=0.38) and 10-20 m (r=0.45) sprint. Body mass was significantly correlated to 10 m spring (r=0.35) in the 13- to 14-year-olds, as well as 20 m (r=0.33) and 10-20 m (r=0.35) sprint in the 15- to 16-year-olds.Height and body mass were significantly correlated with sprint performance in 13- to 16-year-old male soccer players. However, the 10- to 12-year-olds showed no significant relationship between sprint performance and anthropometrics, except for a small correlation in 10-20 m sprint. This may be attributed to maturation, with large differences in body height and body mass due to different patterns in the growth spurt. The agility performance related to anthropometrics was insignificant apart from a moderate correlation in the 13- to 14-year-olds.

In recent years, exercise has shown a powerful ability to regulate the gut microbiota received with concern.For instance, compared with the sedentary group, high-level athletes showed a different gut microbiota composition and remarkable capability of physiological metabolism.In addition, different diet patterns (eg, high-fat diet, high carbohydrate diet et.al) have different effects on gut microbiota, which can also affect exercise performance.Furthermore, adaptations to exercise also might be influenced by the gut microbiota, due to its important role in the transformation and expenditure of energy obtained from the diet.Therefore, appropriate dietary supplementation is important during exercise.And exploring the mechanisms by which dietary supplements affect exercise performance by modulating gut microbiota is of considerable interest to athletes wishing to achieve health and athletic performance.In this narrative review, the relationship between gut microbiota, dietary supplements, training adaptations and performance is discussed as follows.(i) The effects of the three main nutritional supplements on gut microbiota and athlete fitness.(ii) Strategies for dietary supplements and how they exerted function through gut microbiota alteration based on the gut-brain axis.(iii) Why dietary supplement interventions on gut microbiota should be tailored to different types of exercise.Our work integrates these factors to elucidate how specific nutritional supplements can modulate gut microbiota composition and, consequently, influence training adaptations and performance outcomes, unlike previous literature that often focuses solely on the effects of exercise or diet independently.And provides a comprehensive framework for athletes seeking to optimize their health and performance through a microbiota-centric approach.

Purpose: The objective was to describe the location, examination procedures, diagnoses, and treatment for gradual-onset Achilles tendon pain in male professional football (soccer) players. Patients and Methods: Forty-seven teams were followed prospectively for at least one season from 2013/14 to 2017/18. Time-loss injuries were recorded by the teams' medical staffs. For all non-contact Achilles tendon injuries, a specific Achilles tendon form was sent to teams. Results: There were 88 time-loss injuries recorded with gradual-onset Achilles tendon pain amongst 72 players; 22 (25%) of them were severe lasting more than four weeks including one career-ending injury. The specific form was returned for 78 injuries (89%) with 55 cases (71%) having midportion and 23 cases (29%) insertional pain. There were 51 cases (65%) being examined with ultrasound and 29 cases (37%) with magnetic resonance imaging, both modalities being used in 18 cases (23%). Tendinopathy was the most frequently reported main diagnosis both for midportion and insertional pain with 60 cases (77%), but multiple diagnoses were recorded in 21 cases (27%). Surgery was performed in six cases (8%), and the majority of players were exposed to several non-surgical treatments in various combinations, with eccentric training and cryotherapy being most frequent with 52 cases (72%) each. Conclusion: Tendinopathy was the most frequent diagnosis both for midportion and insertional pain. Imaging was carried out for most injuries. A majority of injuries were managed non-surgically, with eccentric training and cryotherapy being the most frequently applied treatments.
