The journal particularly focuses on policy-relevant, experienced philosophical analyses of life ethics and regularly publishes empirical research that provides clear ethical analyses and/or has significant ethical or policy implications. Since its inception in 1981, the Monash Bioethics Review has been published by the Monash University Centre for Human Bioethics, making it the oldest peer-reviewed bioethics journal in Australia and one of the oldest bioethics journals in the world. It serves as an international forum for policy-relevant philosophical analyses of life ethics, publishes papers of up to 13,000 words, and features a unique aspect where all articles are open for comment.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.
