Abstract The Covid-19 pandemic poses a significant threat to human health and life. Timely and accurate prediction of the epidemic’s trajectory is crucial for devising effective prevention and control strategies. Traditional infectious disease models may not capture the complexity of modern epidemics, especially when governments implement diverse policies. Drawing from China’s epidemic prevention strategies and Covid-19 transmission characteristics, this study introduces two distinct categories quarantined cases and asymptomatic cases to enhance the traditional SEIR model in depicting disease dynamics. To address the intricate nature of prevention and control efforts, the quarantined cases are further segmented into three subgroups: exposed quarantined, asymptomatic quarantined, and infected quarantined cases. Consequently, a novel SQEAIR model is proposed to model the dynamics of Covid-19. Evaluation metrics such as the Akaike information criterion (AIC) and Absolute Percentage Error (MAE) are employed to assess the efficacy and accuracy of both the newly proposed and traditional models. By fitting the models to the number of infected cases in Shanghai (March to May 2022) and Guangzhou (November 2022), it was observed that the SQEAIR model exhibited a lower AIC value compared to the SEIR model, indicating superior fitting accuracy for Covid-19 infections. Moreover, the high accuracy of the SQEAIR model enabled precise predictions of confirmed cases in Guangzhou. Leveraging the SQEAIR model, various parameters were tested to simulate the impact of different influencing factors, enabling the evaluation of defense strategies. These findings underscore the effectiveness of key epidemic control measures, such as quarantining exposed cases, in enhancing public health and promoting awareness of personal protection.

SQEAIR: an Improved Infectious Disease Dynamics Model

SQEAIR：一种改进的传染病动力学模型

In this paper, the generalized potential Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (gpKP) equation from fluid physics is systematic studied by some effective methods. Based on the Hirota bilinear method, multi-soliton solutions and multi-order breathers of the gpKP equation are presented. In the meanwhile, the multi-soliton can be transformed into the multi-order lumps under the long wave limit method. Furthermore, the interactions among the multi-soliton, multi-order breathers and multi-order lumps are discussed and simulated as well. The interaction between one-order lump and two solitons is elastic due to their shapes and amplitudes unchanged after collisions. The obtained results can immensely augment in understanding the nonlinear dynamic system deeply.

Multi-soliton, Breather, Lump and Their Interactions of the (2+1)-dimensional Generalized Potential Kadomtsev-Petviashvili Equation

In this paper we investigate an inhomogeneous higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation generated from the deformation of an inhomogeneous Heisenberg ferromagnetic system. Considering the variable coefficients from the inhomogeneities in the ferromagnetic medium, we present the Painlevé-integrable condition. Introducing an auxiliary function, we obtain the one-, two- and N-soliton solutions via the Hirota method. Furthermore, we graphically analyze the influence of inhomogeneities on the soliton propagation and interaction. It is found that the inhomogeneities will cause an increasing-decreasing process of soliton amplitude, and the change of the propagation direction. The perturbation terms can affect the propagation region of soliton but have no influence on the soliton amplitude. We consider the interactions between/among two and three solitons with the same or different initial propagation directions, and observe that the inhomogeneities can influence the soliton amplitudes and propagation directions, while the perturbation parameter can only affect the propagation direction of the soliton. In addition, bound state of solitons and its interaction with soliton are analyzed under the given excitation condition.

Painlevé Analysis and Soliton Solutions for an Inhomogeneous Heisenberg Ferromagnetic System

We discuss Maxwell's ring model with a quasi-homogeneous potential of the dominant mass, and specially study the vertical libration of Maxwell's ring configuration with a Manev potential. There are two kinds of periodic vertical libration, which are non-alternating and alternating cases. The Hamiltonian is highly symmetric and can be reduced to a simple form with two degrees of freedom. Then the Hamiltonian is expanded near the planar circular relative equilibria. By the Lie transformation technique, the birkhoff norm form up to the fourth order is calculated. When the mass ratio between the ring and the dominant mass, and the coefficient of the second term in a Manev potential are both small enough, the nonlinear stability for the vertical libration of Maxwell's ring configuration with a Manev potential is then proved according to Arnold's stability theorem.
