In the twenty-first century ethnic issues have assumed importance in many parts of the world. Until recently, questions of Asian ethnicity and identity have been treated in a balkanized fashion, with anthropologists, economists, historians, political scientists, sociologists and others publishing their studies in single-discipline journals. Asian Ethnicity provides a cross-disciplinary, international venue for the publication of well-researched articles about ethnic groups and ethnic relations in the half of the world where questions of ethnicity now loom largest.   Asian Ethnicity covers any time period, although the greatest focus is expected to be on the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

The journal covers research from any time period, although the primary focus is expected to be on the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Asian Ethnicity

The political polarization of Sindh, where the Sindhi ethnicity dominates rural areas while urban areas are dominated by the "Muhajir", leads to the political monopoly of the Pakistan Peoples' Party in rural areas and the Muttahida Quami Movement in urban areas. Both parties have adopted similar strategies to achieve their goals after establishing their dominance in their respective areas. The current study analysed nine hypotheses, supporting five while rejecting the others. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study finds that partisanship increases voting behaviour by virtue of reducing voting deferral at the day of polling. In addition, young voters in Pakistan largely remain unattached to the traditional leaders or parties, mainly because this group has not personally experienced the tragedies that have historically shaped the partisanship among the old generation. Due to this detachment, they successfully maintain a neutral political stance, which makes them free to support any leader or party that meets their expectations.

This article explores how contemporary poets from Northeast India articulate the profound connections between Indigenous communities and their natural environments through literary expressions. By analysing works by selected poets, the study highlights how they address ecological and cultural transformations driven by modernity and globalisation. Nature-centric imagery and symbolism form the core of their resistance against forces like capitalist development and resource extraction, lamenting the erosion of traditional ways of life while defending Indigenous epistemologies. The study utilises thematic analysis to explore how these poets convey the intricate relationship between land and identity, and reflects on the politics of representation, stressing the inclusion of marginalised voices. It argues that these poetic works not only represent cultural loss but also bear witness to the resilience of Indigenous identities, firmly tied to the land. These literary depictions expose the ruptures between capitalist progress and place-based identities, evoking emotional attachments to threatened lifeworlds.
