Maritime Economics & Logistics (MEL) is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal dedicated to the methodological analysis of global supply chains, including ocean transportation, ports, marine terminals, and maritime logistics. We expect submitted papers to be thoroughly researched, scientifically rigorous, and directly applicable and useful to practitioners and policymakers alike. All contributions are subject to strict peer review. MEL often includes a special section titled 'Policy Perspectives'. Papers in this section, often solicited, emphasize strategic policy implications rather than strict scientific rigor. Papers submitted to Policy Perspectives undergo a lighter peer review process, resulting in faster publication. Submissions to MEL are considered for both sections at the discretion of the Editors. Authors who do not wish for their papers to be considered for the Policy Perspectives section should indicate this in their Cover Letter.

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.
