IEEE Pervasive Computing explores the role of computing in the physical world, particularly focusing on visions such as the Internet of Things and ubiquitous computing. This journal is designed for researchers, practitioners, and educators, serving as a catalyst for realizing the ideas described by Mark Weiser in 1988. The essence of this vision is to create environments filled with sensors, computation, and wireless communication that gracefully support the needs of individuals and society. Many of the key building blocks of this vision are now viable commercial technologies, including wearable and handheld computers, wireless networks, location sensing, and IoT platforms. However, this vision continues to pose profound challenges to experts in hardware design, sensor networks, mobile systems, human-computer interaction, industrial design, machine learning, data science, and social issues including privacy and ethics. The journal explores applications in areas such as assistive living, automotive systems, cognitive assistance, hardware innovation, ICT4D, manufacturing, retail, smart cities, and sustainability through special issues. Additionally, it accepts peer-reviewed papers of broad interest through open calls and regularly features hot topic columns and interviews with prominent figures in the field.

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 1 author

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors

Books Citation Format

Here are examples of references for authored and edited books.
