RESUMENEn España, las administraciones públicas con competencias en materia de ordenación del territorio y planificación urbanística no disponían hasta fechas recientes de una herramienta jurídica que acreditara el riesgo de inundación en un espacio geográfico.La Ley del Suelo 2/2008 (mod.2015), resuelve este problema, puesto que obliga a realizar mapas de riesgos naturales como documento acreditativo de riesgo.En la actualidad, existen varias cartografías oficiales sobre inundaciones en el ámbito nacional y autonómico.En el caso que atañe al presente artículo, conviene destacar: el SNCZI (España) y el PATRICOVA (Comunidad Valenciana).Ambas cartografías son válidas a la hora de acreditar el riesgo de inundación; sin embargo, presentan algunas diferencias y similitudes que, en ocasiones, determinan la existencia de un riesgo en un territorio.Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el SNCZI prevalece por encima del PATRICOVA, empero, ambas cartografías son complementarias a la hora de determinar el riesgo de inundación.Por último, se propone una metodología novedosa

On the Atlantic coast of the Buenos Aires province (Argentina), the development of coastal cities and infrastructures oriented to tourist activity presents different environmental problems that affects its natural dynamics.In this study, the anthropic and natural processes that originated the remobilization and intrusion of a dune field on Provincial Route 11 connecting the cities of Mar del Plata and Miramar were evaluated.Historical analysis of the degradation of coastal dunes were carried out with satellite images and GIS programs to quantitatively evaluate this process over time.In addition, geomorphological studies, plant censuses and grain size analysis of the remobilized sediments were carried out.It was found that the main factors of modification in the landscape have anthropogenic origin, requiring human intervention to mitigate the effects of the impact of the dune body on the route.A management plan that includes the fixation with vegetation of the front of the dune, as well as protecting and controlling the uses of the area covered by the dune system is proposed.

Human pressure on coastal areas poses a serious threat to their conservation. This pressure can be measured using accessibility indicators. However, a detailed accessibility analysis, with highly spatially disaggregated information and complex transport networks, requires millions of optimal routes to be obtained. To reduce processing times, this paper uses the centroid of a regular tessellation representing trip origins (square tiles with population and average income) and a layer of points associated with the coastline to represent destinations. Route calculations between all origins and all destinations are performed once, and then, depending on the objective of the study (accessibility to ports, beaches, lighthouses, or other points of interest), optimal route selections to the corresponding destination type can be made. The study results show the different degrees of human pressure on Andalusian beaches using different accessibility indicators.

Combining high-resolution tessellations and detailed transport networks for accessibility analysis in large areas: indicators of human pressure on coastal areas

This work carries out a diagnosis of the data from the two main networks of solar radiation stations in the Iberian Peninsula: the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET, Spain, with daily data 1980–2020), and the Sistema Nacional de Informação de Recursos Hídricos (SNIRH, Portugal, with hourly data 2001–2020). One of the goals is to advance towards the synergistic use of the two networks and, hence, to improve the integrated knowledge of solar radiation in this interesting territory. The diagnosis was carried out considering measured magnitudes and instruments, error filtering and number of available stations, data completeness results for the networks and for each meteorological station, and territorial representativeness. An important finding is that it is necessary to guarantee greater temporal completeness for the two networks, which is sometimes very low (SNIRH, 35.1 %). Furthermore, it is necessary to increase spatial completeness in the AEMET network to avoid some large territorial gaps (with points located 140 km from the nearest station). Quality control (QC) should be reinforced in the SNIRH network and diffuse radiation data provided. Solar radiation is a key factor in atmospheric dynamics and climatic phenomena (including drought), and with this study we aim to contribute to the knowledge on solar radiation and provide elements to stimulate the consistency of data in a territory as sensitive and complex as the Iberian Peninsula.

Diagnosis for integrating the main Iberian networks of solar radiation meteorological stations

In Brazil, there is a need for studies that present subsidiary data to the public authorities and inspection agencies, in order to obtain a less costly and more efficient decision, especially in the Northwest mesoregion of the state of Minas Gerais. Therefore, this study aims to develop an Agricultural Expansion Index (AEI for the 19 municipalities that make up this location, based on validated data from Mapbiomas. The results indicate that 12 municipalities had an increase in the agricultural class compared to the other uses. In relation to the AEI the number of municipalities classified with the highest degree of AEI doubled between 1990 and 2020. Finally, it was noted that the proposed index can be used for spatial-temporal monitoring of the agricultural expansion process in the region, being useful for decision-makers and inspection agencies.

After a research campaign in 2019 on crómlech in the Chistau valley (Huesca), the possibility of finding more megalithic structures in the same region arose. This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as support in the archaeological prospecting phase in the high mountains. The main objective is to identify areas with a high probability of hosting megalithic structures in the valley through Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA), based on the location of the crómlech using a sample of 30 stone circles. The criteria were weighted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The resulting cartography was validated with field work in which 5 crómlech were recorded, 29 structures with a high probability of being crómlech, and the existence of 6 structures with the potential of hosting megalithic remains.

In order to improve the detection of climate variability patterns, we assess the impact of incorporating auxiliary meteorological networks into the AEMET network to produce temperature and precipitation maps in the Guadalquivir basin. We employ multiple linear regression and residual spatial interpolation to create monthly precipitation and air temperature (mean minimum, mean and mean maximum) maps using two different datasets: Official (only AEMET stations) and Extended (both AEMET and auxiliary network data). Comparison of the performance of both datasets focuses on three key indicators: adjusted R2, cross-validation measured with RMSE, and the percentage of significant independent variables. Overall, the results indicate that the inclusion of auxiliary networks did not consistently or significantly enhance regression models or reduce map inaccuracies. The extended dataset shows a slight decline in adjusted R2 for most of the variables, with a maximum decrease of 0.082 in R2. However, it allowed for the inclusion of more independent variables in the regression models. Notably, altitude, distance to the Atlantic Ocean, and distance to the Mediterranean Sea emerged as crucial predictor variables for both precipitation and temperature. The impact of auxiliary networks on the error metric lacked a consistent pattern. They led to decreased RMSE values for only half of the variables, with a maximum improvement of 1.24 d°C for temperature models and 6.27 dmm for precipitation models when using the extended dataset.
