The Annals of Microbiology covers various fields of basic and applied microbiology, including general microbiology, environmental microbiology, food microbiology, agricultural microbiology, industrial microbiology, ecology, soil, water, air, and bioremediation. The journal does not include medical microbiology or plant pathology microbiology. Submissions on bacteria, fungi, microalgae, and bacteriophages are welcome. The journal publishes commentary articles, original research, short communications, and editorials. Originally established in 1940 as ANNALI DI MICROBIOLOGY ED ENZIMOLOGIA, the Annals of Microbiology is the official journal of the University of Milan.
