The purpose was to investigate the amount of skeletal and dentoalveolar changes after early treatment of Class II, Division 1 malocclusion with bionator appliance in prepubertal growing patients. Forty Class II patients were divided in two groups. Treated group consisted of 20 subjects treated consecutively with bionator. Mean age at the start of treatment (T0) was 9.1 years, while it was 10.6 years at the end of treatment (T1). Mean treatment time was 17.7 months. Pretreatment and post-treatment cephalometric records of treated group were evaluated and compared with a control group consisted of 20 patients with untreated Class II malocclusion. Intergroup comparisons were performed using Student’s t-tests and chi-square test with Yates’ correction at a significance level of 5 per cent. Bionator appliance was effective in generating differential growth between the jaws. Cephalometric skeletal measurements ANB, WITS, Lafh, Co-A and dental L6-Mp, U1.Pp, IsIi, OB, OJ showed statistically significantly different from the control. Bionator induced more dentoalveolar changes than skeletal during treatment in prepubertal stage.

SKELETAL AND DENTAL CHANGES INDUCED BY BIONATOR IN EARLY TREATMENT OF CLASS II

The aim of this study was to perform a three-dimensional evaluation of Herbst appliance effects on the mandibular canines.The subjects consisted of 23 Class II:1 patients (12 men, 11 women), mean age of 15.76± 1.75 years, consecutively treated with a Flip-Lock Herbst®appliance (TP Orthodontics, Inc., La Porte, IN, USA). The lower anchorage unit for the Herbst appliance consisted of two anchor bands connected by a lingual arch with 3mm distance from the incisor’s lingual surface. Treatment changes in mandibular canine inclination and mandibular intercanine width at the cusp and apex levels were evaluated by means of cone-beam computed tomography images (i-CAT® Classic unit, Imaging Sciences International, Hatfield, PA, USA) obtained before and after treatment with the Herbst appliance. There were no statistical differences between genders. Herbst appliance treatment did not result in any statistically significant changes for mandibular canine inclination and mandibular intercanine width. There were associations between mandibular canine inclination and mandibular intercanine width at the cusp (/r/ = 0.43 to 0.66) and apex levels (/r/ = 0.34 to 0.60). The three-dimensionalcone-beam computed tomography analysis of the mandibular canine segment revealed that the Herbst appliance with a mandibular anchorage unit distant from the incisor’s lingual surface does not change mandibular canine inclination and mandibular intercanine width significantly during treatment. However, large interindividual differences may result in undesired amount of mandibular canine anchorage loss in individual patients.

Tomographic evaluation of changes induced by herbst treatment - buccolingual inclination of mandibular canines and the intercanine distance

This study aimed to analyze the demand profile and the challenges of regulating access to specialized care, considering the referenced cases and the perspectives of physicians in the Family Health Strategy (FHS). This was a mixed methods study, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, carried out in an inland municipality of the state of Ceará, Brazil. Quantitative data were obtained from Primary Health Care (PHC) referral forms, registered with the regulation center. Focus groups were held, involving 13 FHS physicians. The results showed 643 referrals, the majority (74.2%) corresponded to the request for tests, and 61.6% did not have a diagnostic hypothesis, which corroborates the increase in waiting time. Spine tomography was the exam with the highest amount in relation to the shortest waiting time. Regarding consultation, otorhinolaryngology was the specialty with the highest demand (17.7%). Physicians reported weaknesses and challenges in regulation, such as communication failures and the lack of counter-referral flows, which compromise Primary Health Care coordination, continuity and resolvability. The need to reorganize and qualify the regulatory processes in the municipality is pointed out.

Health regulation: demand and challenges of the family health strategy in an inland municipality of the State of Ceará, Brazil

The objective was to characterize the notifications of urban violence against women, according to psychological, physical and sexual typologies. This is a cross-sectional, documentary, descriptive and analytical research, based on the notification forms of the Brazilian Notifiable Diseases Information System between the years 2014 and 2017, referring to a city in the Northeast. The independent variables were divided according to the most prevalent types of violence, while the dependent ones followed the characteristics suggested by the notification forms. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests, with a significance level of 5%, in addition to calculating the Chance Ratio. RStudio was used as statistical software.447 notification forms were included, with the following prevalences being observed: psychological (80.1%), physical (39.2%), and sexual (21%), with a predominance of women with low educational level (&lt;8 years of study), non-white race, without companions and heterosexuals. Most of the notifications pointed to the repetition of violence, occurring mainly at night, in homes and public roads, in the form of threats, and the use of body strength. Women are exposed to psychological, physical, and sexual violence, especially to the psychological form, possibly because they have a pattern intrinsically associated with other types.

Psychological, physical and sexual violence against brazilian women: a cross-section study

Dermatoglyphics can be used as a supporting tool in the early detection of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in women. The present study aims to investigate the fingerprints of women with type 2 diabetes mellitus through the dermatoglyphic method, and to compare them with women without the disease. It was conducted by obtaining the fingerprints of all 10 fingers of 268 women – which is known as the dermatoglyphic method –, using the Dermatoglyphic Reader®, with data processed in SPSS (IBM SPSS), version 20.0, and a significance level of p&lt; 0.05. The researched groups are homogeneous for the age, weight and height variables. The group of women with diabetes had a higher average number of lines on the left thumb, as well as the highest total number of lines on the left hand. Moreover, they had a greater number of deltas, in addition to presenting the whorl shape on fingers 1 to 5 of the left hand, and 1 to 4 of the right hand. We concluded that women with type 2 diabetes had a mark of observation concerning their biological individuality on their fingerprints that differs from that of women without the disease.

Fingerprint Patterns in Women with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Computerized Dermatoglyphic Analysis

To analyze the influence pattern of the defining variables that compose the Golden time developed by the Brazilian Mobile Emergency Care Service [Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência] (SAMU-192) in a municipality in Piauí. This is a documentary, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. A total of 337 medical records referring to the year 2018 were verified; data were collected at SAMU’s decentralized base. A sphericity test was performed to verify the possibility of generating a linear model through Mauchly’s test. Initially, an alpha below 0.46 was obtained, but the variables were negatively interfering in the model. After two more verifications, it was concluded that removing the variable did not influence the parsimony of the model. The generalized linear model showed statistical significance as to its fit (p-value&lt;0.001) for the intercept and (p-value = 0.042) for the outcome variable – Golden time. It was possible to understand that SAMU is a viable action for first-aid efficiency and promptness, as well as for patient transport to appropriate reference services.

Mobile emergency care service in Floriano, Piauí: a golden time regression analysis

During an emergency and urgent care, there is great difficulty on the part of health professionals who attend the event to trust the data provided, especially when these are provided by patients who may not be mentally well, in shock, without communication or even the absence of the informant when the patient is unconscious. Therefore, this study aims to develop a prototype to validate the fundamental requirements for creating an application that contains basic patient data that are essential for their care. In addition to personal data, the patient will be able to inform data about allergies, pre-existing diseases and continuous medication use. In this way, this application will help the healthcare professional to obtain this information in a clear, easy and organized way. As a methodology, the scenario was studied, during this phase, meetings were held with professionals from the urgency and emergency service and, with that, the main requirements for the development of the prototype were elaborated. Then, the development of the prototype began.(patient and/or his/her guardian) (attendant health professional). The prototype was developed using the Lean methodology, which deals with continuous learning and a focus on team communication, and Scrum, a methodology focused on continuous development and approval and the use of features and usability. With the prototype ready, an explanatory video was made about the functioning of the prototype. Then, an interview was carried out with some health professionals, via Face book high lighted by this study and the use of the about app. The survey results showed that 96.2% of respondents said they would use the application, 93.2% would feel safer during an emergency care and 79.2% would like to be informed if the application is completed. The prototype was elaborated, evaluated and the results showed that the product is viable.

The study aimed to analyze the trajectory and professional practice of graduates of a Residency Program in Obstetric Nursing. It was qualitative, exploratory-descriptive research carried out with twenty-nine members of the residency program in obstetric nursing private in a higher education institution in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected through an online questionnaire from March to July 2021 and interpreted by content analysis. The following categories emerged from the data analysis: Contribution of training to the current scenario of maternal and child health; Difficulties and challenges: the confrontations of training; and from the training received to the expected training. It was revealed that all graduates were female, being few with previous experience when entering the residency program and, after completion, most continued to work in various spaces of maternal and child and obstetric care.

Global developments are leading change by finding answers in various ways for different nations. In addition to technological, economic, and financial developments, psychological and sociological developments also draw attention. While extraordinary situations such as a pandemic, global crises, and famine accelerate change, they inevitably shorten the adaptation process. Considering all developments in terms of different cultures enables us to benefit from the advantages of comparative studies. From this point of view, in this study, the issue of national welfare is discussed in terms of three Mediterranean countries and compared with the EU. In the study, in which the concept of well-being, which is discussed in seven dimensions, is supported by economic indicators, there are statistical differences between countries.

The Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that can cause respiratory infections. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many challenges, including the health literacy (HL) of society. On the other hand, self-care is a multidimensional structure that requires other behaviors influenced by factors such as health beliefs, economic situations and life events. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between health literacy and self-care behaviors in the prevention of COVID-19 among the citizens of the city of KHAF. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 citizens aged 18 to 65 years in KHAF cities selected through a stratified random sampling method in the first half of 2021. The data collection tool was a questionnaire containing demographic information, health literacy (HL), and self-care questionnaire in the prevention of COVID-19. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis, Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The statistical significance level was set at p≤0.05. The results showed that the mean age of the participants was 32.32 ± 8.03 years. The results of the Pearson correlation test showed there was a significant and positive relationship between HL and self-care behavior (r=0.43, p≤0.001). HL had a positive relationship with self-care behaviors in the prevention of COVID-19 which requires further research and provides an incentive to develop and test special educational interventions at the level of HL to improve self-care in the prevention of COVID-19.
