High-dimensional data refers to a dataset that contains many variables or features, typically with many more features p than observations n (i.e. n<p). With technological advancements in sensors, high-dimensional data are becoming increasingly common in process-monitoring applications. Therefore, this study presents a comprehensive overview of high-dimen-sional monitoring methods, in which 82 articles published from 2004 to 2023 were found to be relevant. The literature on high-dimensional monitoring can be divided into three approaches: control charts based on dimension reduction, variable selection, and high-dimensional techniques. Furthermore, the literature on each approach is divided in terms of control chart structures such as memory-less (Hotelling's T2), memory type (multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) and multivariate cumulative sum (MCUSUM)), and others. Real-life datasets from different fields, such as industry, medical science, chemical engineering, and image processing, which have frequently been used in high-dimensional monitoring, are also listed. It is noted that the literature on high-dimensional monitoring increased after 2016, and most studies were designed using high-dimensional techniques. Moreover, most studies proposed memory types and other structures for monitoring high-dimensional data. This review article offers a comprehensive summary of the current state-of-the-art high-dimensional monitoring research and identifies potential areas for future research.

This study addresses the problem of point and interval estimation for the reliability parameter in a stress-strength model when the data available consist of record values along with inter-record times, under two-parameter exponential distributions. The motivation for this paper arises from the need to improve reliability assessments in engineering and manufacturing contexts where products are subjected to stress conditions. Understanding the relationship between stress (the actual load on a system) and strength (the maximum load a system can withstand) is crucial for ensuring safety and performance. Record data, which encompass extreme observations, provide a valuable means to estimate the reliability parameter. We also explore the point and interval estimation of the reliability parameter when the scale parameters of the two exponential distributions are assumed to be equal. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to assess the performance of the proposed estimates. Finally, we apply the results obtained in this paper to analyze two real data sets.

Estimating stress-strength reliability based on two-parameter exponential records in the presence of inter-record times

In this paper, problems of estimation and prediction for record values are discussed for a two-parameter unit generalized Rayleigh distribution. Maximum likelihood estimators of model parameters along with their existence and uniqueness are established, and corresponding approximate confidence intervals are constructed based on asymptotic theory. In addition, alternative generalized inferential approach is provided for comparison based on the proposed pivotal quantities. Further, prediction intervals of remaining useful life are also presented under classical and generalized inferential methods when the unit generalized Rayleigh record values are available. Extensive numerical studies and two real-life examples are conducted to show the performance of the proposed methods. The results indicate that both classical and generalized estimation methods work satisfactorily and the proposed generalized inferential approach performs superior to traditional estimates in general.
