COVID-19 was a unique event that globally influenced socio-economic systems in many dimensions. One of them was transportation and mobility patterns, especially during lockdown introduced for the sake of public health. Although restrictions were rather universal within each country, cities were characterized by different mobility patterns. The aim of this study was to analyse changes in mobility patterns in response to COVID-19 and define similarities in urban transportation resilience. For this purpose COVID-19 – Community Mobility Reports were used. Results show that work-related mobility was the most influenced in the long term. Bigger cities needed more time to revert to pre-pandemic level. During the first month of lockdown mobility associated with workplaces as well as grocery and pharmacy presented similar decrease. The biggest decrease characterises mobility connected with retail and recreation. Although it met pre-pandemic patterns around the summer 2020, it required almost one more year to reduce fluctuations.

Urban transportation resilience in response to COVID-19: case of Polish cities

应对COVID-19的城市交通韧性：以波兰城市为例

Meeting the diverse needs of seniors, a rapidly growing group across the EU, poses a challenge for the silver economy. The heterogenity of this social group stems from both social transformations—such as increased education and financial security—and spatial variations in seniors' living standards. This article explores how these factors influence the development trajectories of the silver economy. It highlights that the evolution of the silver economy will be region-specific rather than uniform, driven by significant differences in seniors' living conditions across Europe. Through cluster analysis, various market segments are identified, leading to tailored recommendations for silver economy strategies. These recommendations address the distinct needs of Scandinavian, Western, and Eastern European seniors, emphasizing the necessity of region-specific approaches to foster effective development in the silver economy.

Differences in seniors' standard of living and their impact on the development of the silver economy across Europe

Housing is a fundamental human necessity, shaping health, security and socio-economic well-being. The government of Iran has implemented various policies, plans and projects to ensure housing provision, but significant challenges remain, particularly in social housing. This study aims to identify and analyse the obstacles affecting the future development of social housing in Iran. Utilising a mixed-method approach, we conducted both quantitative and qualitative research, gathering expert insights through the Delphi method and analysing the data using cross-impact analysis via MICMAC software. The results revealed four critical challenges: limited loan repayment ability, currency instability, social issues within low-income communities, and policy isolation. These findings underscore the need for policymakers to adopt a comprehensive strategy that addresses financial, social and political fragmentation to ensure sustainable and equitable access to social housing for low-income residents.

The future of Iranian social housing: a regional governance challenge

In location decisions, retailers generally choose to cluster stores to capture more customers. This study examines the spatial distribution of retail stores in South Korea, and provides empirical guidelines for practitioners in urban planning and property management. Three areas representing urban, semi-urban, and rural regions were chosen for the study and analyzed using the L-function and variogram analysis, which are standard evaluation tools for geographical clustering. Stores such as private academies were found to be located close to each other at the shortest distance, followed by real-estate offices and sports equipment stores. The L-function analysis showed that stores were clustered within a distance of up to 2 km in Seoul, 6 km in Gyeonggi province, and 10 km in Gangwon province. In addition, the identified scales correspond approximately to the spatial dependence ranges of land prices. These results are expected to be utilized to design commercial zones in urban planning and delineate cluster boundaries.

The purpose of this article is to highlight the main challenges presented by the spatial transformation of countryside as a result of strong investment pressure in the metropolitan zones of selected Polish cities. The research focuses on the spatial structures of selected communes adjacent to Warsaw, Kraków and Lublin. The study deals with the problem of spatial transformations of the rural landscape. This was done on the background of socio-economic redevelopment and demographic changes. The results show a significant investment pressure and identify the stages and forms of spatial development characterising urbanisation in the studied suburban areas in recent years. The author's planning concept is proposed as an example of a tool for controlling excessive dispersal at local and regional levels.
