Climate of the Past is a non-profit international scientific journal dedicated to publishing and discussing research articles, brief communications, and review papers related to the history of Earth's climate. The journal covers all timescales of climate change and variability, from geological time to multi-decadal studies of the last century. It is important to note that studies focusing on current and future climate are outside its scope. The main thematic areas include: reconstructing past climates using proxy data based on instrumental and historical records, as well as marine and terrestrial (including ice) archives; developing and validating new proxies to improve the precision and accuracy of proxy data; conducting theoretical and empirical studies on processes and feedback mechanisms related to past climate change across all spatial and temporal scales; and simulating past climates and interpreting paleoclimate data based on models to better understand current and future climate variability and change.

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 1 author

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors
