The journal "Aquatic Biology" publishes rigorously reviewed and carefully selected thematic articles, research papers, reviews, and commentaries, as well as comment/reply commentaries. The covered fields include: the biology of aquatic organisms, such as evolution and speciation, life history, biodiversity, biogeography and systematic geography, population genetics, biological connections between marine and freshwater biota, paleobiology of aquatic environments, and invasive species; biochemical and physiological aspects of aquatic organisms, including the synthesis and transformation of organic matter (autotrophic and heterotrophic mechanisms, digestion, respiration, nutrition), thermal regulation, ionic regulation, osmotic regulation and volume regulation, stress and stress resistance, metabolism and energy budgeting, non-genetic and genetic adaptations; species interactions, including environmental-organism and organism-organism relationships, predation and defense (physical and chemical), and symbionts; molecular biology of aquatic organisms; behavior studies, including spatial and temporal orientation, migration, feeding and reproductive behaviors, and agonistic behaviors; toxicology and the impact of water quality on organisms, as well as anthropogenic impacts on aquatic biota (e.g., pollution, fisheries); river regulation and restoration; theoretical biology, including mathematical modeling of biological processes and species interactions; methods and equipment used in aquatic biology research, including underwater exploration and experimentation; development of aquatic biota, such as fisheries and aquaculture, as well as the utilization, management, conservation, and maintenance of aquatic biological resources; and reproduction and development of marine, brackish, and freshwater organisms.

Journal Citation Format
Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.
Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.
A journal article with 1 author
A journal article with 2 authors
A journal article with 3 authors
A journal article with 5 or more authors
Books Citation Format
Here are examples of references for authored and edited books.

Sometimes references to web sites should appear directly in the text rather than in the bibliography.
