Solid Earth (SE) is a non-profit journal that publishes multidisciplinary research on the composition, structure, and dynamics of the Earth from the surface to its deep interior across all spatial and temporal scales. The journal invites submissions in the form of brief communications, research articles, method articles, review articles, and discussions and comments on various aspects of solid Earth, encompassing observational, experimental, and theoretical investigations (for details, please refer to the manuscript types). As an interdisciplinary journal, SE covers the following fields: geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, volcanology; geodesy and gravimetry; geodynamics, including numerical and simulation modeling of Earth processes; geoelectrics and electromagnetics; geomagnetism; geomorphology, structural geomorphology, and paleoseismology; rock physics; seismology; critical zone science (the permeable near-surface layer of the Earth); stratigraphy, sedimentology, and paleontology; rock deformation, structural geology, and tectonics.

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 1 author

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors

Here are examples of references for authored and edited books.
