This dissertation explores the design and implementation of the "Interlocking Passive Brick Set," a building component aimed at enhancing thermal efficiency and optimising the performance of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The bricks demonstrate thermal resistance and low thermal transmittance, reflecting their ability to manage heat flow and dissipation effectively. The research focuses on the interaction between the exterior and interior surfaces of the brick set, where the exterior is exposed to a hot environment, and the interior remains cooler. The design incorporates a central air cavity with lower thermal transmittance than solid surfaces. This cavity facilitates a heat dissipation cycle: hotter air rises and is expelled through the top compartment, while cooler air descends, cooling the space. This convective process enhances the overall thermal regulation within the structure. The data explain the discrepancy between predicted and measured thermal performance in interlocking brick systems and how the integrated air cavity addresses these issues. Heat-flux measurements were correlated in a general form to enable designers to account for convection at both the interior and exterior surfaces.

The article examines the decisive role of rivers in the historical, cultural, and civilizational development of the territories and peoples that inhabit them and explores possible ways of evaluating the historical and cultural potential of riverbanks for their integration into active urban planning. For this purpose, the principles and methodology of the architectural and landscape organisation of urban riverside areas have been outlined. One aspect of this methodology involves revealing the historical and cultural potential of riverside territories. Based on an analysis of UNESCO Heritage Sites regarding the connection of heritage objects with natural bodies of water, such as rivers, a specialised method has been proposed – for addressing these challenges – a method for identifying water bodies of historical and cultural heritage (using the Dnipro River in Kyiv, Ukraine, as a case study). It is noted that, for active urban planning and adaptation to climate change, riverside areas should be considered both as a unified territorial entity and as an independent object of urban planning design. This includes leveraging the unique historical and cultural potential of each city’s riverside territories and implementing planning solutions to sustain the natural and ecological state of river valleys, such as through the organisation of "blue-green" urban infrastructure.

The work concerns dynamic similarity criteria of various phenomena occurring in hydraulics and fluid dynamics originally derived from ratios of forces and forces moments affecting these phenomena. The base of dynamic similarity criteria formulations and considerations is A.Flaga’s method and procedure for determining dynamic similarity criteria in different issues of fluid-solid interactions i.e. at different fluid-solid relative motions. The paper concerns the determination and analysis of dynamic similarity criteria for various practical problems encountered mainly in hydraulics and fluid dynamics at steady, smooth fluid onflow in front of a solid. Moreover, the cases of mechanically induced vibrations of a body in a stationary fluid moving with constant velocity in front of the body have been presented.

The interest in addressing social and political problems through architecture entered the professional discourse of Ukrainian architects in the 1920s. The creation of a new Soviet man became one of the central ideas of the early Soviet state. As a result of the planned transformation of social and family life, there was an active search for new typologies and concepts in both residential and public architecture. The creation of "social condensers," as a means of spatially materializing the idea of shaping a new Soviet man through architecture, became one of the most significant leitmotifs in the formation of architectural and urban planning ensembles in the capital city of Kharkiv, Kharkiv is known not only as a site for creating world renowned modernist complexes, but also as a venue for implementing social experiments. This article explores an example of such a "social condenser" through the ensemble of the Dzerzhynskyj Square (now Svobody Square) district, featuring its unique residential block-combines, as well as architectural concepts that were not realized in their originally conceived form.

Renowacja energetyczna ma na celu zmniejszenie energii zużywanej przez budynek poprzez poprawę właściwości cieplnych przegród budowlanych oraz usprawnienie efektywności systemów instalacyjnych. Jest to istotny element w osiąganiu celów klimatycznych zdefiniowanych przez społeczność międzynarodową. Renowacja zabudowy o wartości kulturowej wiąże się z koniecznością zachowania cech architektonicznych, decydujących o jej rozpoznawalności, co istotnie komplikuje i ogranicza dobór metod i środków. W Polsce proces ten polega najczęściej na niepełnej termomodernizacji uwzględniającej wybrane elementy budynku wraz z wymianą źródła ciepła. Efektem jest jedynie niewielkie zmniejszenie strat energii oraz znacząca utrata walorów architektonicznych. Przedmiotem badania jest ocena możliwości zastosowania kompleksowego zarządzania renowacją energetyczną na poziomie lokalnym, w celu poprawy ochrony i zachowania cech tradycyjnej ceglanej zabudowy, stanowiącej wyróżnik architektoniczny wsi pomorskiej. Zaproponowano model zintegrowanego systemu zarządzania renowacją energetyczną budynku. Sięgnięto po funkcjonujące w Europie wzory rozwiązań, które przeanalizowano pod kątem możliwości dostosowania do krajowej specyfiki. Wskazano na złożoność problemu. Artykuł rekomenduje uwzględnienie całego cyklu życiowego budynku w procesie zarządzania renowacją: od wniosków z badania zastosowanych rozwiązań planistycznych, projektowych i wykonawczych po kontrolę efektów energetycznych w trakcie eksploatacji.
