Although the crowdfunding (CF) sector is booming, research focusing on motivation of contributors is mainly exploratory and does not propose an analytical model. This chapter aims to propose a typology of differentiated motivations according to the type of CF. The main results, authentic compared to the existing literature, show that types of motivation are not the same depending on the type of CF considered. These findings provide significant practical guidelines for three major actors of a CF process: CF platforms must communicate according to the segmentation resulting from the respective predominant motivations. Project leaders should go beyond the simple utility and inform contributors according to the life of the project and its segmentation and the required technical tools of contribution. Contributors share personal ties and observe how the projects succeed regarding loan with interest; therefore, certain motivations, found in this research, such as pleasure of contributing, living experiences, and supporting creators should not be put forward in all the CF campaigns.

The aim of this research is to provide theoretical insights into effectively managing complaints made by businesses and brands on digital platforms. In this context, the authors first explain the consumer complaint process in the digital environment. Following that, they provide guidance on how businesses should handle these complaints. Managing complaints is crucial for fostering satisfied and loyal consumers. To this end, the authors provide a detailed breakdown of each step in the complaint resolution process, including deciding on a complaint resolution strategy, collecting complaints, reviewing complaints, resolving complaints, acquiring customers, and conducting a comprehensive analysis of complaints. Briefly, they outline the procedures that businesses should establish for complaint resolution, how they should go about resolving complaints, and how to analyze complaints using cause-and-effect relationships. The research will also feature practical examples from digital platforms, and the authors examine the findings of relevant studies on this topic.

The objective of this chapter is to present brief literature and new results of research in privacy-preserving data mining as an important privacy issue in the e-business area. The chapter focuses on classification problems in business analytics, where the enterprises can gain large profit using predicted results by classification. The decision tree is a well-known classification technique, and its modification by the Randomized Response technique is described for privacy-preserving data mining. This algorithm is developed for all types of attributes. The largest contribution of this chapter is a new method, so called Random Response Forest, consisting of many decision trees and a randomization technique. Random Response Forest is similar to Random Forest, but it is able to solve privacy problems. This consists of many shallow trees, where a shallow tree is a special decision tree with a Randomized Response technique, and the precision of Random Response Forest is better than at a tree.

Organizations continuously strive to engage customers in the services development process. The Social Web facilitates this process by enabling novel channels for voluntary feedback sharing through social media and technologically advanced environments. This chapter explores how social influence design principles can enhance the effectiveness of socio-technical systems designed to alter human behavior with respect to sharing feedback. Drawing upon social science theories, this chapter develops a research framework that identifies social influence design principles pertinent to persuasive systems that facilitate user engagement in feedback sharing. The design principles are then implemented in an information system and their effects on feedback sharing are explored in an experimental setting. The main findings of this chapter contribute to research related to social influences on user behavior and to the practice of designing persuasive information systems.

This chapter reviews some of the major business applications of social media and discusses how social media applications are used to support business model improvement. Managers are realizing that social media affects a wide spectrum of business activities from building product or brand awareness to after-sales services. Therefore, it is crucial for companies to analyze their social media applications, develop a plan to continually monitor their advancements, and quickly respond to the social media needs of customers. For practitioners, this chapter provides managerial guidelines for social media applications for business model improvement.
