International Journal of the Analytic Hierarchy Process

This study applied the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in prioritizing the attributes of on-campus coffee shops as perceived by university students. Data were collected using online and paper-based questionnaires. The seven main studied attributes were food and beverage quality, location, environment, staff service, pricing, green practices, and well-known coffee shop chains. The first five attributes were subdivided into multiple sub-attributes. Food and beverage quality was the most important attribute, followed by pricing, location, staff service, environment, green practices, and well-known coffee shop chains. The top five sub-attributes were food and beverage hygiene, good value for money, food and beverage taste, travel convenience, and regular promotional offers. Coffee shop operators and university management can leverage this study’s findings to improve the campus coffee shops’ quality to meet students’ preferences more effectively. Furthermore, this study demonstrates the application of the AHP in decision-making within the context of service quality management.

Land suitability analysis is a beneficial activity in land resource planning and management. This study aimed to evaluate land suitability for okra cultivation in Nagari Nanggalo, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, Indonesia, by integrating the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Topographic factors, climate, and soil characteristics were considered in this suitability assessment. Based on the research, it was concluded that in the land evaluation for okra cultivation, soil factors played the most significant role, with a weight of 53.9% according to the AHP analysis, followed by climate factors at 29.7% and topographic factors at 16.4%. The land suitability analysis results indicated that 87.05% (321 ha) of the area was highly suitable (S1), and 12.95% (47.80 ha) of the area was moderately suitable (S2) for okra cultivation. This research demonstrated that the area had the potential for okra production. However, it should be noted that proper soil management, as well as soil and water conservation measures, should be considered to enhance the current land suitability and improve crop yield. The soil map for land suitability designed in this study is useful for management decision-making.

秋葵在印度尼西亚南佩西斯岸县科托XI塔鲁桑区纳加里南加洛地区的土地适宜性评估——基于GIS-AHP技术

This study has taken into consideration the most important factors that influence consumers’ choice of clothing by analyzing some of the most popular brands in the market. The study was completed in two countries making a comparison between the preferences of consumers in a developed and developing country. The method used is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which, by structuring the problem, makes it easier to classify the criteria that influence consumers’ evaluation of clothing brands. Six main criteria, sixteen sub-criteria, and different fast fashion brands were considered. The results of this method revealed different priorities regarding the criteria between the two regions even though the most preferred brand was the same. These results help the companies included in the study to not only improve their products, but to have a better approach to the customer, and strengthen their competitiveness.

CONSUMER PREFERENCES IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS IN DEVELOPING AND DEVELOPED COUNTRIES

Environmental issues in the furniture industry are of great importance due to the use of natural materials, such as wood and chemical substances like adhesives and paints. These issues encompass environmental conservation and managing the pollution and waste that is generated. This study adopted an integrated AHP-LCA decision model which helped identify several key factors as higher priorities. These factors include the bio-economic aspects, the production process, wood quality, stable supply of raw materials, technical considerations, and the recycling process. A pairwise comparison of 24 sub-criteria revealed that the quality of wood as a raw material, wood supply management and connections, the punching process, user education and trained workforce, and process design are critical criteria. Prioritizing these factors not only helps in the removal of pollutants, but also enhances the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) framework in the furniture industry. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results using Sima-Pro software indicated that scenario 1, which involves designing recyclable furniture, has a significant impact on water toxicity and CO2 emissions. Additionally, replacing birchwood as an imported raw material (scenario 2) can help mitigate ionizing radiation effects. Finally, using recycled wood in the furniture manufacturing processes (scenario 3) significantly affects land use and emissions.

EVALUATION OF LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT IN FURNITURE MANUFACTURING USING THE ANALYTICAL HIERARCHY PROCESS

The burgeoning world population has transformed the interplay of space, human beings, and activity, leading to a decline in quality of life and livability in many places. This study aimed to identify the factors affecting livability within a new integrated urban-rural scale using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Based on the research background and context, objective and subjective indices of livability in the economic, social, and environmental dimensions were developed for both urban and rural settlements in Qazvin, Iran. Data on these indices were collected through secondary resources and questionnaires, and then analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) along with Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE), both of which are multi-criteria decision-making methods. The compatibility between these two methods—used for comparing, weighting and evaluating quantitative and qualitative criteria—sets them apart from similar approaches. The results show no complete preference both in the cities and the rural districts. Furthermore, the importance of using three dimensions is highlighted in livable communities by the fact that Qazvin city unexpectedly could not acquire complete superiority due to poor environmental function even though it is the major settlement of the region. An examination of the effective factors and indices also demonstrated that the social dimension of livability is less desirable in the whole city-region; therefore, it should be given more attention when adopting strategies and decisions. Finally, this study can offer substantial assistance to authorities and the decision-makers by employing a flexible and adjustable framework.
