NPJ SYSTEMS BIOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS is an online open-access journal dedicated to publishing cutting-edge research that employs a systems approach. The journal aims to provide a platform for articles that contribute to defining this emerging field and for research that applies these advancements to broader domains. We encourage research that integrates or facilitates the integration of data, analyses, and insights from molecules to organisms and larger systems. Key areas of focus include not only fundamental biological systems and drug discovery but also applications in health, medical practice and implementation, big data, biotechnology, food science, human behavior, and the broader applications of systems biology in industry. We welcome all approaches, including systems biology, the application of control theory in biological systems, computational modeling and analysis, integrative and/or high-content measurement, theoretical, analytical, and computational studies of system-level characteristics of biological systems, as well as the development of computational/software/data platforms to achieve these goals.

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

A journal article with 1 author

A journal article with 2 authors

A journal article with 3 authors

A journal article with 5 or more authors
