Advances in Animal and Veterinary Sciences is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to serve as a forum to share the knowledge on research advances in animal and veterinary sciences covering infectious and non-infectious diseases, production aspects and related public health concerns. Thrust areas including epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and control of economically important, emerging and re-emerging pathogens of livestock, poultry and wild life are encouraged. We also welcome research on novel approaches for boosting animal production, nutrition and management, genetic improvement, and clinical and paraclinical veterinary care.

Black soldier flies are used to make animal feed with quite high nutritional content and enough nutrients to make animal feed.We aimed to explore the appropriate level of supplementation of black soldier fly larvae in the diet of Muscovy ducks at 7-12 weeks old.A total of 200 Muscovy ducks were randomly assigned to five dietary treatments.The treatments named as following: CTL -control diet with fishmeal; LP20, LP40, LP60 and LP80 as replacing 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% of fishmeal protein with larval protein (LP) in the control diet with four replications, each replication with 10 ducks (5 males and 5 females).The results showed that the weight gain of the LP20, LP40, and LP60 treatments was as high as the CTL treatment.The FCR of ducks at CTL treatment (3.40) and LP20 treatment (3.44) was significantly (P<0.05)lower than LP60 treatment (3.52) and LP80 treatment (3.59).It is possible to replace 60% of the fish meal protein with the black soldier fly larvae protein, providing the highest profit without affecting the growth of broiler Muscovy ducks during the 7 to 12 weeks period.

Black Soldier Larvae Versus Fish Meal Concerning the Growth of Muscovy Ducks

黑水虻幼虫与鱼粉对番鸭生长影响的研究

The present study has been designed to investigate impact of allicin nanoparticles on female rats with induction of the hyperthyroidism.Fifty mature female rats (aged 90 days and weighted 150±10 g) have been randomly assigned to 5 equal groups (10 each),control (C) group , T1,T2,T3 and T4 groups were drenched with thyroxine (300mg/kg of B.W for 28 days ) for hyperthyroidism induction, T2 was drenched with methimazole (2.5 mg/kg of B.W for 30 days), T3 was drenched with allicin nanoparticles (50 mg/kg of B.W for 30 days) and T4 was drenched with methimazole and allicin nanoparticles for 30 days.The results showed a significant increase in thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine (T 3 ) and thyroxine (T 4 )) and iodine levels in T1 as compared with control group while decreasing these parameters in T2, T3 and T4 as compared with T1.Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) decrease in T1 while increase in T2,T3 and T4.The histopathological changes in thyroid gland showed normal thyroid tissue in control group whereas, in T1 thyroid tissue showed normal with dilated thyroid follicles and it contains colloid in their lumen.T2 showed small in thyroid follicles size and empty for colloid with hyperplasia of epithelial cells.T3 showed high dilation of thyroid follicles with large amount of colloid .we can conclud that allicin nanoparticles at dose 50 mg/kg of B.W appears to enhance its bioavailability and effectiveness combating oxidative stress associated with hyperthyroidism.
