Bulletin Mineralogie Petrologie

A previously unknown primary Ni-As-Bi and supergene As-Bi mineralization was found in the active marble quarry Smrčník located 2 km WNW of the village of Lipová-Lázně, 7 km WNW of Jeseník, Rychlebské hory Mountains, Czech Republic. An electron-microprobe study of newly collected samples from a weakly Cu-mineralized quartz-carbonate vein cutting the marbles showed the presence of gersdorffite, bismuthinite, an unidentified Cu-Bi sulphide, bismite, and tyrolite, which were not known from the wider area. The microscopic grains of gersdorffite are part of primary ore mineralization of the studied vein with prevailing chalcopyrite, which is in places rimmed by chalcocite and djurleite. Nickel is partly replaced especially by Co (0.002 - 0.246 apfu) and Fe (0.030 - 0.158 apfu), less by Cu (0.008 - 0.038 apfu), whereas arsenic is weakly substituted by Sb (0.008 - 0.083 apfu) and in part of collected analyses by Bi (0.001 - 0.033 apfu) in the studied gersdorffite. All mentioned Bi minerals hosted by chalcopyrite were recorded in a single aggregate only. The blue-green tyrolite is a rare compound of supergene mineral assemblage of the same vein. Its chemical composition is characterized by small contents of S (0.050 - 0.248 apfu), P (0.052 - 0.104 apfu), and mostly also Cl (0.022 - 0.070 apfu). The new findings suggest much richer mineralogical and chemical variability of primary (hypogene) mineralization of hydrothermal veins, than was indicated by previous studies in the wider area.

Fluorapophyllite-(K) and associated zeolites were found in Cenozoic pyroclastic rocks in the rock cut of the forest path ca. 100 m from the top of the Bukovina hill (557 m above sea level) near Chřibská in the Lužické hory Mts., Czech Republic. The dominant component of mineralization is fluorapophyllite-(K), forming white crystals up to 15 mm in size, accompanied by chabazite-K and phillipsite-group minerals. The unit-cell parameters of fluorapophyllite-(K), refined from powder X-ray data, are a 9.001(2), c 15.795(3) Å and V 1279.71 Å3. Chemical analyses of fluorapophyllite-(K) (mean of 10 points) correspond to the empirical formula (K0.85Na0.16)Σ1.01(Si7.75Al0.25)Σ8.00O20F0.97·8 H2O.

Fluorapofylit-(K) a doprovodná zeolitová mineralizace z vrchu Bukovina u Chřibské v Lužických horách (Česká republika)

氟磷灰石-(K)：卢萨蒂亚山脉赫日布什卡附近的布科维纳火山口中的伴生沸石矿化（捷克共和国）

Very rare hydrated calcium arsenate, mineral ferrarisite, was found at the adit K4-2/1-3C (4th vein, level of the Gallery No. 2) of the abandoned uranium deposit Zálesí, Rychlebské hory Mountains, Silesia, Czech Republic. Ferrarisite occurs as colorless to white crystalline aggregates up to 9 × 6 mm with pearly lustre, formed by elongated tabular crystals resting on supergene altered carbonate gangue with nickelskutterudite and rammelsbergite. Associated minerals are arsenolite, annabergite, picropharmacolite, pharmacolite and guérinite. Ferrarisite is triclinic, space group P-1, the unit-cell parameters refined from X-ray powder diffraction data are: a 18.2918(16), b 6.7217(13), c 11.190(2) Å, α 106.206(14)o, β 92.923(16)o, γ 99.166(15)o and V 588.2(2) Å3. Chemical analyses of ferrarisite correspond to the empirical formula (Ca5.00Ni0.01)Σ5.01(AsO3OH)1.99(AsO4)2.01·9H2O on the basis of As 4 apfu. The origin of ferraristie is interpreted as product of (sub)recent supergene alteration of primary arsenides in calcite gangue in environment of abandoned mine adits.

We studied a rare magnesium uranyl sulphate mineral, chenowethite, from the Jáchymov ore district, Krušné hory Mountains (Czech Republic). It was confirmed from the two samples originating from the Svornost mine in Jáchymov. Chenowethite forms rich crystalline aggregates on supergene-altered rocks in association with dark yellow to orange mineral of the zippeite group and white acicular crystals of gypsum. Its randomly arranged aggregates are composed of elongated thin tabular crystals up to 100 μm in length. Chenowethite is pale or bright yellow with a pale yellow streak and fluoresces greenish yellow, weak or dull under 254 nm and 366 nm UV-radiation, respectively. Chenowethite crystals are transparent to translucent and have an intensive vitreous luster. It is very brittle, and at least one system of perfect cleavage (along {010}) was observed. The quantitative chemical analyses of chenowethite agree well with the proposed ideal composition and correspond to the following empirical formulae (on the basis of 2 U atoms pfu) (Mg1.02Fe0.03Mn0.03)Σ1.08[(UO2)2(SO4)2.06 (OH)2.04]·11H2O (sample A) and (Mg0.92Fe0.11Mn0.04Zn0.01)Σ1.08[(UO2)2(SO4)1.96(SiO4)0.01(OH)2.23]·11H2O (sample B). Chenowethite is orthorhombic, the space group Cmcm, with the unit-cell parameters refined from X-ray powder diffraction data: a 6.9329(8), b 19.0019(15), c 16.3298(15) Å and V 2151.2(3) Å3 (sample A) and a 6.937(3), b 19.019(5), c 16.348(6) Å and V 2156.8(1.1) Å3 (sample B). Vibrational (Raman and infrared) spectroscopy documents the presence of molecular water, uranyl and sulphate units in the crystal structure of chenowethite.

A rare mineral, stibioclaudetite, ideally AsSbO3 was discovered at the dump of the Najvyšší Štefan adit at the Zlatá Idka Ag-Au-Sb deposit near Zlatá Idka, Spišsko-gemerské rudohorie Mts., Košice-okolie Co., Košice Region, Slovakia. It occurs as colourless prismatic crystals up 5 mm with perfect cleavage, developed on fractures of quartz gangue with abundant stibnite, arsenopyrite and minor pyrite. The unit-cell parameters of stibioclaudetite from the Zlatá Idka (for the monoclinic space group P21/n) refined from the PXRD data are: a 4.5715(17) Å, b 13.112(2) Å, c 5.4182(15) Å, β 94.97(3) and V 323.55(14) Å3. Its chemical composition corresponds to the average empirical formula As1.09Sb0.91O3.00. Raman spectrum of stibioclaudetite is also given. Stibioclaudetite was formed by the in-situ weathering of primary ore minerals at the base of the supergene zone under the relatively reducing conditions.
