Purpose. In the literature, the influence of different post types utilized on ferrule-formed maxillary central teeth on fracture resistance and restoration life is not clearly explained. This study aims to investigate how fiber reinforced composite posts (FRC), fiber posts (FP), and zirconia ceramic posts (ZCP) effect fracture resistance of endodontically treated central teeth with a ferrule. Materials and Procedures: Ferrule was created to preserve 2 mm of coronal dentin structure for 30 maxillary central teeth that undergone root canal therapy. Thirty maxillary central teeth were separated into three distinct groups, and three distinct posts were applied: FRC, FP, and ZCP. After constructing the post core, the strip crown was applied. Thermal cycling and chewing simulation were performed on the samples. The samples were exposed to a refractive test in a universal testing machine after the refraction test. The samples were subsequently analyzed at x10 magnification using an optical microscope. A one-way ANOVA and Chi-square test were used to assess fracture resistance between groups. Results. In terms of fracture resistance, the statistical analysis revealed no statistically significant differences between the groups. Regarding fracture type, there were no significant differences between the groups. Conclusion. Despite the fact that the type of post is particularly critical for the survival of endodontically treated teeth, the presence of a ferrule considerably improves survival. Endodontically treated teeth that have been prosthetically restored with post implantation are more likely to survive because to the ferrule effect.

It is stated that the search for new materials in today's dentistry continues in order to meet aesthetic and functional expectations. As a result of these searches, materials such as PEEK (polyetheretherketone) and Bio HPP (bio high performance polymer) have become widely preferred in dentistry. PEEK is a thermoplastic polymer. It offers features such as durable structure, tissue compatibility and lightness. Therefore, it is attracting interest as a metal alternative and is considered as a promising material in dental treatment applications. In addition, PEEK's biocompatibility properties enable it to be used in the biomedical field. PEEK is a material that resembles natural tooth color and has been used as a biomaterial in orthopedics for many years. BioHPP is a PEEK-based bio high-performance polymer that has been shown as a dental substrate material. It can be used in different areas of dentistry due to its advantages such as excellent physical and aesthetic properties, low weight and biocompatibility. It is stated that polymer materials such as PEEK and BioHPP offer aesthetically, mechanically and biologically successful alternatives in dentistry. However, it is emphasized that they should be used with caution due to insufficient clinical studies. Especially the fatigue stress and long-term performance of PEEK require further research. Therefore, studies based on more comprehensive and reliable clinical data on the use of these materials are needed.

THE USE OF PEEK AND BIOHPP POLYMERS IN PROSTHODONTICS

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of teeth bleaching on oral health and quality of life (OHIP-14) in adults who have undergone office bleaching treatment. Material and Methods: One hundred patients who applied to our clinic for bleaching treatment between 2016-2021 and underwent bleaching treatment with Opalescence Boost 40% PF were included in the study. Pre-treatment color determination is routinely done for each patient in the clinic. They were divided into four different groups as follow-up patients in 3rd month for Group 1, 6th month for Group 2, 1st year for Group 3, and 2nd year follow-up patients for Group 4 (n=25). Shade guide unit (ΔSGU) values were calculated for the patients using the Vita Classic color scale. In addition, the OHIP-14 questionnaire was applied to each patient to evaluate the effect of bleaching on oral health and quality of life. Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallis tests were performed at P.05). In terms of color change, no significant difference compared to baseline levels with the measurements made at the 3rd, 6th months, and 1st and 2nd years (P.&gt;05, =0.81). Conclusion: After the bleaching treatment, the color remained stable for two years. However, a positive psychosocial effect and improved self-perception occurred in the patients. Assessment of Bleaching Treatments With The Ohip-14 Survey

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the treatment methods of large size oroantral defects (OADs) and their clinical outcomes. Material and Methods: The patients who referred our clinic between 2017 and 2023 suffering from oroantral fistula (OAF) and the cases which was occurred oroantral communication (OAC) larger than 5mm during oral procedures were included in the study. The size, type and cause of OAD, treatment method, the patient’s demographic data was recorded. VAS scale, analgesic requirement, the edema, and mouth opening measurements were obtained from preoperative day and postoperative records at 3, 7, 10 days after surgery. Results: 23 patient (8 OAF, 15 OAC) was included in this study. 9 of them was treated with buccal advancement flap (BAF), 10 with buccal fat pad (BFP) and 4 with press-fit technique. No problem was occurred at the healing process. Only in one patient BFP application was failed, and after 2 months second surgery was performed, and the area was fully covered. According to postoperative clinical outcomes, any statistically significance wasn’t observed between groups in the terms of vas scale, analgesic requirement, edema and trismus at any timepoint (p 0.05). Although there was insignificance at all parameters between treatment groups, VAS scale and analgesic requirement was less than BAF and BFP in press fit. Conclusion: BAF, BFP and press-fit methods are reliable and well-known techniques for OAD management, however, further clinical studies with larger sample sizes are needed to create treatment algorithm for OAD.
