The American Journal of Physical Anthropology (AJPA) is the official journal of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists. It is published monthly, with three volumes released each quarter. Additionally, two supplements are published annually: the Annual Review of Physical Anthropology, which features major review articles, and the Annual Meeting Proceedings, which includes the scientific program of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists' annual meeting along with abstracts of poster and platform presentations. The Annual Review has its own editor, appointed by the association, and operates independently of AJPA. By impact factor, AJPA is one of the top-ranked journals in the anthropology category of the Social Sciences Citation Index. The reputation of AJPA as a leading publication in physical anthropology is built on a century-long record of publishing high-quality scientific articles on a wide range of topics.

Journal Citation Format

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.
