ABSTRACT The advances in the field of Information System (IS) has resulted in increased adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Human Resource Management (HRM) for being valuable to employees and organization. However, extant research revealed that organizations are yet to receive promised benefits, despite investing time, energy and resources as a consequence of the limited role of human resources. Drawing upon socio-technical system (STS) theory, the study formulated moderated mediation model to explicate the mechanism and conditions under which hybrid intelligence (HI) impact breakthrough innovation engagement (BIE). Specifically, the research empirically examines the mediating impact of self-extension (SE) and how social intelligence (SI) moderates the indirect relationship between hybrid intelligence and breakthrough innovation engagement via self-extension. The survey was conducted among 352 employees of Chinese and Pakistani firms using a time-lagged data collection method. The study applied structural equation modeling (SEM) using MPlus 8.3 to test the proposed model. The findings revealed that hybrid intelligence was positively related to breakthrough innovation engagement, and social intelligence partially mediated the relationship. Besides, the study also found that social intelligence positively moderated the relationship between social intelligence and breakthrough innovation engagement, and the indirect effect of hybrid intelligence on breakthrough innovation engagement via self-extension was stronger for employees with a high level of social intelligence. Based on these findings, the study advances the AI scholarship in HRM by empirically testing the impact of hybrid intelligence on breakthrough innovation engagement of employees. It also uncovers how social intelligence can regulate employees’ work engagement in the organization via extending one’s abilities.

When Human Meets Technology: Unlocking Hybrid Intelligence Role in Breakthrough Innovation Engagement via Self-Extension and Social Intelligence

Mobile adoption and use research are a relatively mature Information Systems (IS) research area; however, few studies have taken a user-centered approach to examining this phenomenon. This research focuses on the user characteristics of self-efficacy and time urgency, a construct adopted from psychology, and relates them to traditional adoption and use theories. Further, this research substitutes mobile proximity as a usage construct to explicitly recognize the features of the mobile device that make it unique, thereby enriching the use literature. The proposed model explains 24% of the variance in mobile proximity and highlights four significant hypotheses. Our findings indicate that the newly applied time urgency and mobile proximity constructs are applicable in adoption and use studies and should be further explored in IS literature. Implications for research and practice are outlined, including the relative ease of access to mobile devices and the importance of personality traits as related to adoption.

ABSTRACTThis paper is motivated by the need to find reasons for the divergent findings reported in many studies that assessed the effects of social norms on IS security policy compliance, and answers multiple calls for additional research on this subject. In doing so, this paper contributes to the existing information security literature by presenting an integrated model that draws from the General Deterrence Theory, the Social Norms, and the Normality perspective. Specifically, this study investigates the effect of formal sanctions on information security policies compliance mediated by subjective, descriptive, and moral norms. The data were collected from the employees of five organizations in the Southern United States using the survey method. Quantitative analysis of the sampled data was conducted by using PLS to assess the various hypotheses. This study shows that descriptive and moral norms mediate the relationships between formal sanctions and information security compliance. Predicting Compliance of Security Policies: Norms and Sanctions

The primary objective of this study is to examine the influence that psychological factors have on project team members’ degree of over-optimism regarding successful project completion. Specifically, we examine the impact that select personality traits and psychological states have on project team members’ degree of over-optimism about bringing a project to a successful completion. A field survey methodology was employed to survey IT project team members from Fortune 500 companies and the research model was tested using structural equation modeling. Results indicate that project-specific self-efficacy has both a direct positive effect on over-optimism and an indirect effect via the implementation mindset construct. General self-efficacy was demonstrated to directly influence project-specific self-efficacy and indirectly influence over-optimism via the implementation mindset construct. Preference for consistency was also demonstrated to have a direct effect on over-optimism. Implications for developing interventions to minimize the impacts of over-optimism related to IT projects are discussed.

Understanding Predictors of Over-Optimism in IS Project Teams

Tourism shopping via mobile applications has revolutionized the tourism industry. The research examined the antecedents to the adoption of mobile tourism shopping (MTS) via an integrated model, consisting of the Mobile Technology Acceptance Model, consumer perception of merchant ethics, consumer decision-making styles, and characteristics of mobile applications. The results were empirically validated via the PLS-SEM-ANN method. The findings indicated that mobile usefulness, mobile ease of use, application quality, and service quality have significant positive correlations with the intention to use MTS, whereas privacy concern has displayed a significant negative relationship. Moreover, source reliability, application reputation, perfectionism, and novelty-fashion consciousness were revealed to be statistically insignificant to the development of adoption intention toward MTS. Furthermore, the ANN results have indicated the existence of a non-linear hidden attribute in the prediction of ANN Model A. The research has generated valuable theoretical implications and practical insights. For one, the advantages that come with the adoption of MTS and the security measures taken by the service providers should be highlighted to the prospects via effective marketing messages to nurture confidence, which can subsequently drive adoption.

While GenAI has streamlined tasks such as summarizing literature and drafting manuscripts, it has also introduced significant ethical and practical challenges. Key concerns include authorship, where GenAI falls short of meeting intellectual or accountability criteria, as well as the increasing threat of plagiarism, originality issues, and the spread of misinformation. Scholarly Discourse on GenAI’s Impact on Academic Publishing

In recent years, the emergence of quantum computing has created substantial problems to the security of cryptographic methods often utilized in blockchain technology. As quantum computers become more powerful, the possibility of them breaking classical cryptography algorithms such as ECDSA grows, forcing researchers to look for quantum-resistant alternatives. Post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, such as Falcon, have emerged as possible alternatives for long-term blockchain security. This study examines the performance and security of classical (ECDSA) and post-quantum (Falcon) blockchains under a variety of attack scenarios, including DDoS, replay, and Sybil attacks. Our research will evaluate the computational and resource needs of several cryptographic approaches, as well as examine how these infrastructures respond under various attack situations and emphasize the trade-offs between higher security and resource consumption. Our results show that, while post-quantum blockchains are more resistant to quantum computing threats, they need much more CPU and memory than their classical equivalents. This increased resource requirement affects scalability and efficiency, especially in high-load scenarios. Despite their resistance to quantum attacks, post-quantum blockchains are still vulnerable to traditional attack vectors, as demonstrated by the significant computing cost seen throughout our testing. These research results underscore the need of balanced blockchain systems that successfully handle the trade-offs between security and performance.

Security Analysis of Classical and Post-Quantum Blockchains

This study explores the concept of electronic propinquity (e-propinquity), which refers to perceptions of psychological closeness between an individual and an information source. Unlike prior research, which predominantly focuses on human-to-human interactions, this study uniquely examines e-propinquity between individuals and nonhuman information sources, addressing a critical gap in the literature. Key research questions investigate how source design characteristics (interactivity, vividness, and customizability) and task complexity influence e-propinquity. These factors enhance perceptions of rapport, clarity, and personalization, making the information source more accessible and trustworthy. This research extends existing theories of psychological closeness to digital environments and offers practical guidance for designing more engaging and effective information systems. Given the surge in remote interactions understanding factors that enhance psychological closeness with digital information sources is more critical than ever. The findings suggest that higher e-propinquity increases the likelihood of an information source being used, particularly for complex tasks. This research underscores the significance of e-propinquity in digital interactions, particularly in contexts such as telehealth, online education, and remote work, where psychological closeness enhances user engagement and satisfaction.

Electronic Propinquity: Design Characteristics and Task Complexity in Information Sources

The question of what factors influence end-user performance has been a subject of substantial research since the inception of the Management Information Systems (MIS) field. User performance models often include demographic and organizational factors, along with system and information quality factors. The dependent variables are the accuracy and efficiency of the user. Most of these earlier studies were conducted using surveys mailed to a group of users. This study employs a more comprehensive experimental approach to collect data and to develop mathematical models showing which variables had the most impact on user performance. A mobile lab was created to collect data from 239 subjects as they completed Business Intelligence (BI) tasks of varying complexity. The resulting models showed that the computing platform (accuracy only) and the participants' age and company size had the most impact on performance. The conclusions are limited to the BI tasks chosen for this experiment.
